Only
technicians who have completed all required certification courses are permitted to
perform this procedure. Tesla recommends third party service provider technicians
undergo equivalent training before performing this procedure. For more information on
Tesla Technician requirements, or descriptions of the subject matter for third parties,
see HV Certification Requirements. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and insulating HV
gloves with a minimum rating of class 0 (1000V) must
be worn at all times a high voltage cable, busbar, or fitting is handled. Refer to Tech Note TN-15-92-003, High Voltage Awareness
Care Points
for additional safety
information.
Remove all jewelry (watches, bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, ID tags, piercings, etc.) from your person, and all objects (keys, coins, pens, pencils, tools, fasteners, etc.) from your pockets before performing any procedure that exposes you to high voltage.
Remove
- Remove the charge port. See Charge Port (CCS) (Remove and Replace).
-
Position the locking pin
inward.
NoteMake sure the pin is all the way in.NoteThe gear actuator rocker arm should be in the up position.
-
Remove the manual release
cable from the charge port assembly.
NoteTake note of the rocker arm position.NoteCarefully pry the rocker arm outward.
-
Remove the bolts (x4) that
attach the latch actuator assembly to the charge port assembly, and then
remove the latch actuator assembly from the charge port.
1.8 Nm (1.3 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- T20 bit
-
Separate the latch actuator
from the latch actuator bracket.
NoteSlide the actuator pin upward to release from the latch actuator, and then out of the bracket cover. Lift the latch actuator out of the bracket.
Install
-
Set up the latch actuator
assembly.
- Install the O-ring into the correct position.
- Slide the latch actuator into the bracket.
- Carefully align and install the actuator locking pin assembly.
-
Install the latch actuator
assembly into the charge port assembly.
NoteCarefully slide the latch actuator assembly inward and align the locking pin.
-
Install the bolts (x4) that
attach the latch actuator assembly to the charge port assembly.
1.8 Nm (1.3 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- T20 bit
-
Install the manual release
cable to the latch actuator.
NoteCarefully press the actuator rocker arm in place until it is fully seated, and then secure the cable on its bracket.
- Install the charge port. See Charge Port (CCS) (Remove and Replace).
