Seat Cushion - 1st Row - LH (Sport Seat) (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Remove the LH front seat from the vehicle. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the LH front seat outboard side shield carrier from the front seat assembly. See Carrier - Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Model YL / Model Y Performance) (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH front seat inboard side shield carrier from the front seat assembly. See Carrier - Side Shield - Inboard - 1st Row (Remove and Replace).
  4. Rotate the LH front seat to gain access to the underside.
    CAUTION
    Be careful to avoid damage to the seat cushion.
  5. Disconnect the seat back heater connector, and then slide the connector upward to separate the heater connector from the front seat cushion suspension.
  6. Disconnect the seat pad heater connector, and then slide the connector upward to separate the connector from the seat underside.
  7. Disconnect the LH front seat occupancy sensor and set the sensor harness pigtail aside.
  8. Disconnect the seat occupancy sensor connector, and then release the clip that attaches the sensor to the seat underside.
  9. Release the clips (x2) that attach the seat cushion to the seat suspension with assistance.
  10. Release the clip strips (x3) that attach the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion frame at the front, inboard, and outboard sides by pulling them away from the frame.
    CAUTION
    Make sure that the seat cushion heater pad connector and the seat occupied sensor assembly do not catch on the seat suspension or frame.
  11. Release the hooks (x2) that secure the seat cushion trim cover to the LH front seat cushion frame.
  12. Release the clips (x2) that secure the seat cushion trim cover to the LH front seat cushion extender.
  13. Return the front seat to the upright position.
  14. Remove and discard the outboard and inboard bolts (x4) that secure the seat back frame to the seat cushion frame.
    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  15. Place the seat back rest alongside the seat cushion.
  16. Fold the seat cushion forward to the horizontal position to remove it from the seat cushion frame.
    CAUTION
    When folding forward, ensure the foam at the seat cushion extension is not stuck to avoid damaging the foam.
  17. Release the retaining clips (x7) that secure the seat cushion trim cover to the LH front seat cushion extender, then remove the seat cushion.

Install

  1. Secure the retaining clips (x7) that attach the seat cushion trim cover to the LH front seat cushion extender.
  2. Install the seat cushion to the LH front seat cushion frame.
    Note
    First push the heater harness and seat cushion trim cover to the rear of the seat cushion frame, then install the seat cushion foam and seat cushion trim cover to the seat cushion frame.
  3. Place the seat back frame onto the cushion frame for installation.
    Note
    The seat back frame can rest on the cushion frame without fasteners.
  4. Install the new outboard and inboard bolts (x4) that secure the seat back frame to the seat cushion frame.
    43 Nm (31.7 lbs-ft)
    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Rotate the seat to gain access to its underside.
    Note
    Be careful not to damage the seat cushion.
  6. Install the clips (x2) that attach the seat cushion to the seat suspension with assistance.
    Note
    The seat cushion and trim may need to be pulled tight for the hooks to achieve correct placement on the seat suspension.
  7. Install the clips (x2) that secure the seat cushion trim cover to the LH front seat cushion extender.
  8. Install the hooks (x2) that secure the seat cushion trim cover to the LH front seat cushion frame.
  9. Install the clip strips (x3) that attach the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion frame at the front, inboard, and outboard sides: Fold the clip over towards the frame so the open end engages the seat frame; line up one end of the clip strip opening with the seat frame and press down until the clip is fully seated.
    Note
    If the open end does not engage the seat frame, pull the trim until the correct amount of tension is achieved.
  10. Install the clip that attaches the seat occupancy sensor to the seat underside.
  11. Connect the seat occupancy sensor connector and install the sensor onto the LH front seat harness bracket.
    Note
    Ensure the harness is not routed between the cushion and the frame to avoid friction.
  12. Fasten the clip that attaches the seat pad heater connector to the seat underside, and then connect the electrical wiring harness to the seat pad heater connector.
  13. Fasten the clip that attaches the seat back heater connector to the seat underside, and then connect the electrical wiring harness to the seat back heater connector.
  14. Rotate the seat to the upright position.
  15. Install the LH front seat inboard side shield carrier from the front seat assembly. See Carrier - Side Shield - Inboard - 1st Row (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the LH front seat outboard side shield carrier from the front seat assembly. See Carrier - Side Shield - Outboard - Driver Seat (Model YL / Model Y Performance) (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the LH front seat from the vehicle. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
