LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify)

This procedure disables LV power, but does not verify that high voltage power is no longer available to high voltage components (A/C compressor, inverters, etc). Perform Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure after this procedure, and before servicing high voltage components.

CAUTION
Before disconnecting the LV power, make sure windows are not moved for at least 1 minute. Failure to wait before disconnecting can result in component damage.

Disconnect

  1. Remove the HEPA filter or cowl assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace) or Cowl Assembly - non-HEPA (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Install).
  2. Power off the vehicle from the center display.

    Note
    On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Safety > Power Off > Power Off.
  3. Disconnect the LV battery connector from the LV battery.
    1. Release the green locking tab by pulling it outwards (1).
    2. Press the black locking tab numbered as "1" (2A), and then pull the black connector lock outwards (2B).
    3. Press the black locking tab numbered as "2" (3A), and then pull the black connector lock even further outwards (3B) to fully release the connector.
    4. Pull the connector upwards to release it from the LV battery.
  4. Disconnect the first responder loop.

    Note
    Before proceeding to service the vehicle, allow 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to discharge.
  5. If LV power was disconnected to service a high voltage component, verify that high voltage power is no longer available to that component. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.

Connect

  1. Connect the first responder loop.

    CAUTION
    Connect the first responder loop BEFORE connecting the LV battery connector.
  2. Connect the LV battery connector to the LV battery.
    1. Connect the connector to the LV battery (1).
    2. Push the black connector lock fully inwards (2).
    3. Push the green locking tab inwards (3) to lock the connector.
  3. Install the HEPA filter or cowl assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace) or Cowl Assembly - non-HEPA (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Install).
  4. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
