Gas Strut - Hood - LH (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the HEPA filter or cowl assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace) or Cowl Assembly (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the LH and RH wiper arms and blades. See Wiper Arm And Blade - Driver (Remove and Replace) and Wiper Arm And Blade - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the cowl screen. See Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  4. Use a prop to attach the hood assembly in the open position.
  5. Release the clip that attaches the hood gas strut to the hood mount.
  6. Release the clip that attaches the hood gas strut to the body mount, and then remove the hood gas strut from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Lubricate the pivot points for the hood gas strut.
  2. Install the clips that attach the hood gas strut to the body mount and to the hood mount.

    Note
    The rod end of the hood gas strut mounts to the body and the other side of the hood gas strut mounts to the hood.
  3. Remove the hood assembly prop from the vehicle.
  4. Install the cowl screen. See Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the LH and RH wiper arms and blades. See Wiper Arm And Blade - Driver (Remove and Replace) and Wiper Arm And Blade - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the HEPA filter or cowl assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace) or Cowl Assembly (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace).
