Note
The TCU contains the LTE module, Wi-Fi / BT module, LTE and Wi-Fi / BT antennas, and Automotive Audio Bus (A2B) transceiver. The TCU assembly must be replaced if any component fails.

Replace

  1. If equipped, insert the original SIM card into the TCU slot with the gold pads facing downward, then press the SIM card inward.

    Make sure that the SIM card goes into the slot, before releasing your grip of the SIM card.

    Note
    Once the SIM card is fully pressed into the slot, the retaining tab will automatically return to its original position.
  2. Install the TCU. See Antennas and Amplifiers - TLA, Telematics Control Unit (TCU) (Remove and Install).
  3. Reinstall the software. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.

    Select TCU as Resintall Type.
  4. If the TCU is equipped with an eSIM card, perform the following substeps to swap the eSIM profile.

    For China, skip this step.
    1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle. See Toolbox (Connect and Disconnect).
    2. In Toolbox, click Action tab, type "Swap Dual Bootstrap eSIM operator" in the search field, and select PROC_ICE_X_DUAL-BOOTSTRAP-E-SIMvia Toolbox:(link), select kpn, and then click Run.

      For NA and China, Do Not select kpn.

      After the routine ends, click the "X" at the upper right corner of the prompt.
    3. Exit Service Mode Plus.
  5. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
