Door - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Remove the LH front door moving side glass. See Glass - Door - Front - LH (Model Y Premium) (Remove and Replace).
  3. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  4. Remove the LH exterior mirror. See Exterior Mirror - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the LH front door pressure sensor electrical connector.
  6. Disconnect the LH front regulator motor connector.

    Note
    Disengage the red locking tab, and then press down the black tab to release the connector.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the front door speaker.
  8. Remove the LH front door closeout panel assembly. See Closeout Panel - Window Regulator - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    No need to remove the pressure sensor, the window regulator, and the speaker from the door closeout panel assembly.
  9. Remove the LH front outer door handle. See Door Handle Outer - Passive - LH - Front (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove the LH front door latch. See Door Latch - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Release the LH front door harness along the door side.
  12. Remove the LH front door harness from the door assembly.
  13. Apply masking tape to LH front fender.
  14. Remove the LH front door check strap. See Check Strap - Front (Remove and Replace).
  15. Apply tape surrounding the hinges to mark the installation position.
  16. Release the nuts (x2) that attach the LH front upper and lower door hinges to the door.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Combination Wrench 12pt 13mm
  17. With assistance, lift the LH front door assembly up from the vehicle, and place it on a padded surface.

Install

  1. With assistance, position the LH front door assembly to the vehicle, and hand-tighten the nuts (x2) that attach the LH front lower and upper door hinges to the door.
  2. Install the LH front door check strap. See Check Strap - Front (Remove and Replace).
  3. Make sure the seal is fully seated around the grommet, and then route the LH front door harness through the outer A-pillar.
  4. Secure the LH front door harness along the door side.
  5. Install the LH front door latch. See Door Latch - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the LH front outer door handle. See Door Handle Outer - Passive - LH - Front (Remove and Install).
  7. Install the LH front door closeout panel assembly. See Closeout Panel - Window Regulator - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Connect the electrical connector to the front door speaker.
  9. Connect the LH front regulator motor connector.
  10. Connect the LH front door pressure sensor connector.
  11. Connect the LV battery power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  12. Install the LH exterior mirror. See Exterior Mirror - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH front door moving side glass. See Glass - Door - Front - LH (Model Y Premium) (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    Return to the current procedure after installing the LH front door outer and inner belt seals.
  14. Close the LH front door to check for gap/flushness.

    Adjust the LH front door if necessary. Refer to CVIS for current specification.
  15. Open the LH front door.
  16. Torque the nuts (x2) that attach the LH front lower and upper door hinges to the door.
    26 Nm (19.2 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Combination Wrench 12pt 13mm
  17. Remove all masking tapes.
  18. Continue installing the LH front door moving side glass. See Glass - Door - Front - LH (Model Y Premium) (Remove and Replace).
  19. Release the clips (x2) that attach the rear of the LH front door inner belt seal to the LH front door.
  20. Release the clip that attaches the LH front door glass run seal to the LH front door.
  21. Use IPA wipe to clean any remaining adhesive or residue from the LH front door.

    Note
    Allow 1 minute for IPA to dry completely before proceeding.
  22. Peel a short section of the seal backing on each end of the seal and position the ends into the door assembly.

    Make sure that the open edge of the seal is facing the inside of the door.

    Note
    Make sure the front edge of the seal is under the cutout for the glass run seal, and the rear edge is under the cutout for the inner belt seal.

    Note
    Make sure that the drain holes of the seal are at the bottom of the door.
  23. Firmly press the remaining portion of the seal into place while removing the film from the double sided tape.

    Make sure that the seal is evenly distributed around the perimeter of the door.

    Note
    Do not stretch the seal as it is applied to the door.
  24. Install the clips (x2) that attach the rear of the LH front door inner belt seal to the LH front door.
  25. Install the clip that attaches the LH front door glass run seal to the LH front door.
  26. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace).
  27. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
