Assembly - Instrument Panel - Upper (Remove and Replace)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Open both front doors and lower both front windows.
  2. On the touchscreen, tap Controls > Steering, and use the left scroll wheel to adjust the steering column fully outward and fully downward.
  3. Move both front seats backward.
  4. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Remove the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH and RH lower A-pillar trims. See A PILLAR LOWER TRIM - LEFT HAND (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the RH air wave duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - AIR WAVE DUCT - RIGHT HAND (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the instrument panel lower assembly. See Assembly - Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the LH footwell duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - DRIVER FOOTWELL DUCT (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the steering column lower gap hider. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - STEERING COLUMN GAP HIDER - LOWER (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the touchscreen and its neck. See Center Screen - Neck (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the float wing. See Float Wing Assembly - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  13. If quipped, release the ETC connector.
  14. Remove the wrap around assembly. See Wrap Around - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel speakers. See Speaker - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Remove the center instrument panel speaker. See AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE 100MM (Remove and Replace).
  17. Release the instrument panel speaker harnesses from the tabs (x2).
  18. Disconnect the passenger airbag connector.

    Note
    Lift the white tab to release the connector.
  19. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam near the passenger airbag.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E10
  20. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from the instrument panel RH side.
  21. Remove the screw that attaches the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam on the upper LH side.

    • Torx T20 bit
  22. Remove the screws (x7) that attach the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam.

  23. Remove the screw that attaches the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam on the upper RH side.

  24. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from the instrument panel LH side.

    Note
    Gently lift the LH instrument panel to disconnect the connector.
  25. With assistance, release the tabs and remove the instrument panel upper carrier assembly from the vehicle.
  26. Remove the LH and RH defrost ducts. See IP, DEFROST COVER, LEFT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  27. Remove the LH and RH air vents. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - AIR VENT - DRIVER (Remove and Install).
  28. Remove the LH instrument panel trim harness from the clips (x4).
  29. Remove the RH instrument panel trim harness from the clips (x3) and tabs (x2).
  30. Remove the front passenger airbag. See Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  31. Remove the instrument panel upper assembly from the portable bench.

Install

  1. Position the instrument panel upper assembly to the portable bench.
  2. Install the front passenger airbag. See Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  3. Install the RH instrument panel trim harness into the clips (x3) and the tabs (x2).
  4. Install the LH instrument panel trim harness into the clips (x4).
  5. Install the LH and RH air vents. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - AIR VENT - DRIVER (Remove and Install).
  6. Install the LH and RH defrost ducts. See IP, DEFROST COVER, LEFT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  7. With assistance, engage the tabs to install the instrument panel upper carrier to the vehicle.
  8. Connect the instrument panel harness connector to the instrument panel LH side.

    Gently lift the LH instrument panel to connect the connector.
  9. Install the screw that attaches the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam on the upper LH side.
    2.3 Nm (1.7 lbs-ft)

  10. Install the screws (x7) that attach the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam.
    2.3 Nm (1.7 lbs-ft)

  11. Install the screw that attaches the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam on the upper RH side.
    2.3 Nm (1.7 lbs-ft)

  12. Connect the instrument panel harness connector to the instrument panel RH side.
  13. Install new bolts (x2) to attach the instrument panel carrier to the cross car beam near the passenger airbag.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

  14. Connect the passenger airbag connector.

    Note
    Make sure a click sound is audible, which indicates that the connector is fully seated.
  15. Install the instrument panel speaker harnesses to the tabs (x2).
  16. Install the LH and RH instrument panel speakers. See Speaker - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the center instrument panel speaker. See AUDIO SPEAKER FULL RANGE 100MM (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the wrap around assembly. See Wrap Around - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  19. If quipped, connect the ETC connector.
  20. Install the float wing. See Float Wing Assembly - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  21. Install the touchscreen and its neck. See Center Screen - Neck (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the steering column lower gap hider. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - STEERING COLUMN GAP HIDER - LOWER (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the LH footwell duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - DRIVER FOOTWELL DUCT (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the instrument panel lower assembly. See Assembly - Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  25. Install the RH air wave duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - AIR WAVE DUCT - RIGHT HAND (Remove and Install).
  26. Install the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  27. Install the LH and RH lower A-pillar trims. See A PILLAR LOWER TRIM - LEFT HAND (Remove and Install).
  28. Connect the LV battery power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  29. Move both front seats to original position.
  30. On the touchscreen, tap Controls > Steering, and use the left scroll wheel to adjust the steering column back to original position.
  31. Raise both front windows and close both front doors.
