Actuator - Lower Mode - HVAC (Remove and Install)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the center console assembly. See 2.0 - CONSOLE (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the LH instrument panel air wave duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - AIR WAVE DUCT - LEFT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the cowl top foam. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - COWL TOP FOAM (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the headliner harness clips (x2) on the LH lower A-pillar.
  5. Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the cross car beam.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
  6. Remove the LH instrument panel riser bracket. See INSTRUMENT PANEL RISER - LEFT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the RH instrument panel riser bracket. See INSTRUMENT PANEL RISER - RIGHT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the headliner harness clip from the RH lower A-pillar.
  9. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH and RH cross car beam to the A-pillar.

  10. Remove the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.

  11. Loosen the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the upper cowl.

    • 3/8in Dr. Open Crowfoot Socket x 13mm
  12. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.

  13. Remove the wiper module. See Wiper Module (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the cross car beam to the body.

    • 13 mm deep socket
  15. With assistance, partially remove the cross car beam from the vehicle.

    Note
    Release the RH side cross car beam for enough space to remove the lower actuator.

    Pay attention to the datums (x5).
  16. Remove the screws (x2) that secure the lower mode actuator, disconnect the connector, and then remove the actuator from the vehicle.

    • 6 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Digital Torque Screwdriver 0.10Nm - 2.0Nm

Install

  1. Insert the lower mode actuator into the keyway, connect the actuator connector, and then install the screws (x2) that secure the actuator.
    1.25 Nm (.9 lbs-ft)

    • 4 in extension
    • Digital Torque Screwdriver 0.10Nm - 2.0Nm
  2. With assistance, align the datums (x5) on the beam with the slots on the body and install the cross car beam to the vehicle.

    Note
    Make sure the harness is not squeezed.
  3. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the cross car beam to the body.
    25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)

  4. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the LH and RH cross car beam to the A-pillar.
    29 Nm (21.4 lbs-ft)

  5. Install the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.
    5.5 Nm (4.1 lbs-ft)

  6. Torque the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the upper cowl.

  10. Install the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the cross car beam.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

  11. Install the headliner harness clips (x2) to the LH lower A-pillar.
  12. Install the headliner harness clip to the RH lower A-pillar.
  13. Install the cowl top foam. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - COWL TOP FOAM (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH instrument panel air wave duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - AIR WAVE DUCT - LEFT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the center console assembly. See 2.0 - CONSOLE (Remove and Install).
  16. Install the wiper module. See Wiper Module (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
