Actuator - Lower Mode - HVAC (Remove and Install)

 Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the center console assembly. See Center Console (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the clips that attach the RH front main carpet to the RH cross car beam bracket.
    Note
    Number of clips on new vehicles may vary
  3. Remove the lower RH bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  4. Remove the bolt that attaches the RH cross car beam bracket to the cross car beam.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
  5. Insert an inflatable airbag between the RH cross car beam bracket and the lower HVAC assembly, and then fully inflate the airbag.
  6. Remove the screws (x2) that secure the lower mode actuator, disconnect the connector, and then remove the actuator from the vehicle.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 6 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Digital Torque Screwdriver 0.10Nm - 2.0Nm

Install

  1. Insert the lower mode actuator into the keyway, connect the actuator connector, and then install the screws (x2) that secure the actuator.
    1.25 Nm (.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 6 mm socket
    • 4 in extension
    • Digital Torque Screwdriver 0.10Nm - 2.0Nm
  2. Deflate the inflatable airbag, and then remove the airbag from the RH cross car beam bracket and the lower HVAC assembly.
  3. Install and hand-tighten the bolt that attaches the RH cross car beam bracket to the cross car beam.
    Note
    The bolt will be torqued at a later step.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
  4. Install and hand-tighten the lower RH bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.
    Note
    The bolt will be torqued at a later step.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  5. Torque the bolt that attaches the RH cross car beam bracket to the cross car beam.
    25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
  6. Torque the lower RH bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.
    5.5 Nm (4.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  7. Install the clip that attaches the RH front main carpet to the vehicle.
    Note
    Number of clips on new vehicles may vary
  8. Install the center console assembly. See Center Console (Remove and Install).
