Reuse

Remove

  1. Inspect the vehicle for abnormal tire wear that might indicate the need for a wheel alignment. Note any findings.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Stands.
  3. Remove the HEPA filter. See HEPA FILTER (Remove and Replace).
  4. Release the clip that attaches the LH side of the cowl screen to the vehicle.
  5. Lift up the cowl screen and carefully insert a inflatable air bag between the cowl screen and the body to gain access to the bolts that attach the LH brace to the vehicle.
  6. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH brace to the vehicle, and then remove the brace.

    • 10 mm socket
  7. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Release the clips (x2) that attach the LH front ABS wheel speed sensor to the upper control arm.
  9. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the front stabilizer bar end link to the LH front strut and separate the end link from the strut.

    Counter-hold the ball joint while loosening the nut.

    If needed, use a pry bar to release the end link.

  10. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the LH front lower lateral link to the strut.

  11. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the LH front upper control arm to the knuckle, and then discard the nut.

    Compress the upper control arm ball joint downwards to help release the bolt.

  12. Remove the nuts (x3) that attach the LH front damper assembly to the LH front upper control arm mount.

  13. Remove the damper assembly from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Maneuver the damper assembly into place.
  2. Install the nuts (x3) that attach the LH front damper assembly to the LH front upper control arm mount.
    23 Nm (17.0 lbs-ft)

  3. Hand tighten the bolt and nut that attach the LH strut to the LH front lower lateral link.
  4. Position the front stabilizer end link onto the LH front strut, and then install a new nut that attaches the front stabilizer end link to the LH front strut.
    98 Nm (72.3 lbs-ft)

  5. Position the LH upper control arm to the knuckle, and then install the bolt and a new nut that attach the LH front upper control arm to the knuckle.
    56 Nm (41.3 lbs-ft)

  6. Install the clips (x2) that attach the LH front ABS wheel speed sensor to the upper control arm.
  7. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front rotor to the LH front hub.

  8. Install the hub jack adapter onto the LH front hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts (x5).
  9. Position and raise the underhoist stand to simulate the suspension at ride height.
  10. Measure the distance between the bottom of the fender and the center of the front axle to make sure that the front suspension is set to ride height. The distance should measure 420mm.
  11. Tighten the bolt and nut that attach the LH front lower lateral link to the strut.
    106 Nm (78.2 lbs-ft)

  12. Remove the underhoist stand from underneath the LH front suspension.
  13. Remove the lug nuts (x5) that attach the hub jack adapter, and then remove the hub jack adapter from the vehicle.
  14. Install the bolt that attaches the LH front rotor to the LH front hub.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  15. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  16. Position the brace to the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH brace to the vehicle.
    30 Nm (22.1 lbs-ft)

  17. Deflate and remove the inflatable air bag between the cowl screen and the body.
  18. Install the clip that attaches the LH side of the cowl screen to the vehicle.
  19. Install the HEPA filter. See HEPA FILTER (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Stands.
  21. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
