FLUID COUPLING - 180 DEGREE (Remove and Replace)

Replace 1015888-00-C

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  3. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Thermal > Coolant System > Start Thermal Fill/Drain > Run, and then allow the routine to complete.
  4. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See SERVICE KIT - HEPA AND CARBON FILTERS (Remove and Replace).
  5. Disconnect the LV battery. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Remove the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Air Intake (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  8. Position the coolant drain container under the LH front of the front drive unit.
  9. Disconnect the front drive unit inverter hose from the fluid coupling, and plug the ends of both fittings as soon as possible to avoid coolant loss.

    Coolant loss greater than 1L requires vacuum fill.
  10. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the straight fluid coupling to the front drive unit inverter, and then remove and discard the straight fluid coupling.

    • Torx T25 Bit

Install

  1. Install a new front drive unit straight fluid coupling into the front drive inverter, and then install a new bolt that attaches the straight fluid coupling to the front drive unit inverter.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

  2. Remove the plugs on the ends of fittings, and then connect the front drive unit inverter hose to the fluid coupling.

    Coolant loss greater than 1L requires vacuum fill.

    Perform a push-pull-push test to make sure that the hose is fully secured.
  3. Remove the coolant drain container from underneath the vehicle.
  4. Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  5. Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary.

    Ensure that the coolant level is at the "Max" line.
  6. Connect the LV battery. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  8. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Thermal > Coolant System > Stop Thermal Fill/Drain, and then allow the routine to complete.
  9. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Thermal > Coolant System > Coolant Purge Start > Run, and then allow the routine to complete.
  10. Inspect the coolant level, top off as necessary, and then install the coolant bottle cap.

    Ensure that the coolant level is at the "Max" line.
  11. Install the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Air Intake (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See SERVICE KIT - HEPA AND CARBON FILTERS (Remove and Replace).
  13. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  14. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
  15. Remove the lift arms from below the vehicle.
