Charge Port (NACS) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  2. Check the voltage at the charge port. See Charge Port Voltage Check.
  3. Remove the charge port controller. See Controller - Charge Port - GEN 4 (NACS) (Remove and Replace).
  4. Partially remove the LH upper C-pillar trim, and release the clip that attaches the charge port release cable to the trim.
  5. Put on the HV insulating gloves and leather over gloves.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x3) from the charge port ECU.

    Note
    Remove white locking tab before disconnecting.
  7. Remove charge port safety cap.
  8. Remove fasteners securing charge port busbar to charge port and remove busbar leads from studs.

      • 10 mm deep socket
      • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
  9. Release LH body harness from rear body and move aside.
  10. Remove the charge port assembly.

    • SOCKET, 1/4" DR., DEEP, MAGNETIC, 10MM

Install

  1. Install the charge port assembly.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • SOCKET, 1/4" DR., DEEP, MAGNETIC, 10MM
  2. Install LH body harness onto rear body.
  3. Apply penetrox to backside of busbar leads.
  4. Install charge port busbar leads to charge port assembly.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)

    Note
    If excessive force is required to seat busbars, they may have been bent. Inspect for damage and replace if necessary.

  5. Install charge port safety cap.
  6. Connect the electrical connectors (x3) to the charge port ECU.

    Note
    Remove white locking tab before disconnecting.
  7. Remove the leather over gloves and HV insulating gloves.
  8. Secure the clip that attaches the charge port release cable to the trim, and install the LH upper C-pillar trim.

    Ensure that the charge port release cable is installed in place.
  9. Install the charge port controller. See Controller - Charge Port - GEN 4 (NACS) (Remove and Replace).
  10. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
