Tail Lamp - Liftgate (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the spoiler outer panel. See Spoiler Outer Panel (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the lamp to the liftgate.

  3. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the lamp to the liftgate.

    • 10 mm deep socket
  4. Remove the rear backup camera. See Camera - Rear Facing (Remove and Install).
  5. Disconnect the liftgate handle switch connector.
  6. Disconnect the liftgate tail lamp assembly connector.
  7. Remove the harness clip from the liftgate tail lamp assembly.
  8. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the lamp to the liftgate.

    • 10 mm deep socket
  9. Apply masking tape to the liftgate below the tail lamp assembly to protect the painted surface.
  10. Remove the tail lamp assembly from the liftgate.

Install

Note
When replacing the part, since the tail light assembly comes with a new camera, there is no need to install the camera onto the tail light. Simply connect the rear-facing camera connector.
  1. Install the tail lamp assembly to the liftgate.
  2. Install the exterior bolts (x3) that attach the lamp to the liftgate.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)

  3. Remove the masking tape from the liftgate.
  4. Install the harness clip to the liftgate tail lamp assembly.
  5. Connect the liftgate tail lamp assembly connector.
  6. Connect the liftgate handle switch connector.
  7. Install the rear backup camera. See Camera - Rear Facing (Remove and Install).
  8. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the lamp to thee liftgate.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

  9. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the lamp to the liftgate.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  10. Install the spoiler outer panel. See Spoiler Outer Panel (Remove and Replace).
  11. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  12. Place the vehicle in Service Mode by using the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
  13. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  14. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration, select RearView in the Camera Selection drop list, click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  15. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  16. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
