Radiator (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the cooling fan module assembly from the vehicle. See Cooling Fan Module (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the active grille shutter from the cooling fan module. See Active Grille Shutter (Remove and Install).
  3. Release the locking tabs that attach the radiator to the fan and shroud assembly, and then slide the radiator out of the holding mounts.
  4. Remove the stone guard. See Stone Guard (Remove and Replace).
    Note
    Perform this step only if the following conditions are met:
    • the old radiator is equipped with a stone guard.
    • the new radiator does not include a stone guard.

Install

  1. If removed, install the stone guard. See Stone Guard (Remove and Replace).
  2. Install the radiator to the cooling fan and shroud assembly, and then fasten the locking tabs that attach the radiator to the fan and shroud assembly.
  3. Install the active grille shutter to the cooling fan module. See Active Grille Shutter (Remove and Install).
  4. Install the cooling fan module assembly to the vehicle. See Cooling Fan Module (Remove and Replace).
  5. Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox (Connect and Disconnect).
  6. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, search for "Radiator", select PROC_VC_X_RESET-RADIATOR-UA-INDEXvia Toolbox:(link), select Run, then allow the routine to complete.
    Note
    Perform this step for firmware versions develop/2026.14.3 and later.
  7. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
  8. Exit Service Mode Plus. See Service Mode Plus.
