Adjust Headlights Using a Wall - 2025+ Model Y Premium and Performance versions
- Open the LH front door and lower the window.
-
Position the vehicle for adjusting the headlights. The vehicle should be:
- Located in a darker work area with low ambient lighting.
- Parked on a level surface.
- Perpendicular to a wall that has a matte surface. The wall must be at least 1.83 m (6 ft) high and 3.76 m (12 ft) wide.
- There should be no low tire pressure alerts on the touchscreen. If present, adjust tire pressures to specification.
-
Apply tape to the wall at 61 cm (24 in) from the floor.
-
Apply tape to the floor at 7.6 m (25
ft) from the wall.
-
Measure the distance from the center of both front wheels to the wall.
NoteIf equal, this ensures that the vehicle is perpendicular to the wall. If not equal, reposition the vehicle accordingly. The maximum difference between left and right is 3mm.
-
Mark the center line on the wall.
NoteProject a laser perpendicular to the wall onto the center point of the vehicle, then mark a center-line on wall
-
Create vertical markers on the wall at 77 cm (30 in) from the center line: apply tape
vertically on both sides of the center line.
- Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
-
Enter the headlight aiming mode
through the touchscreen.
