STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE (Remove and Replace)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Steering, use the left scroll wheel to adjust the steering column to its fully outward and fully downward position, and then touch Save.
  3. Remove the lower shroud of the steering wheel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL STEERING COLUMN SHROUD LOWER (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove and discard the retaining clip from the steering column control module connector, and then disconnect the electrical harness from the steering column control module connector.

    CAUTION
    Check for broken clip pieces on the connector, and remove if present.
  5. Loosen the bolt that attaches the steering column control module to the steering column, and then remove the module from the vehicle.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit

Install

  1. Carefully install the steering column control module onto the steering column, and then install the bolt that attaches the module to the steering column.
    2.4 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Make sure that the steering column control module is properly seated.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
  2. Install an orange plastic retaining clip (1028053-00-A) into the electrical harness connector for the steering column control module, and then connect the electrical harness to the steering column control module connector.

    Note
    Perform a push-pull-push test to make sure that the steering column control module electrical connector is seated properly.
  3. Install the lower shroud of the steering wheel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL STEERING COLUMN SHROUD LOWER (Remove and Replace).
  4. Reinstall software. SeeSoftware Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  5. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
