 Replace Install only bolt PN 1109912-00-B (China 1109912-99-B) or newer, which has patch material on the bolt threads.

 Reuse

Remove

  1. Inspect the vehicle for abnormal tire wear that might indicate the need for a wheel alignment. Note any findings.
  2. Remove the front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Remove the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH front lower lateral link to the knuckle.

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the LH strut to the LH front lower lateral link.

    • 21 mm deep socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  6. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front lower lateral link to the front subframe, and then remove the LH front lower lateral link from the vehicle.

    • 21 mm deep socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  7. Repeat step 4 through step 5 for the RH front lower lateral link.

Install

  1. With assistance, position the LH front lower lateral link into the vehicle, and then hand-tighten the new bolts (x2) that attach the LH front lower lateral link to the front subframe.
  2. Hand-tighten the bolt and nut that attach the LH strut to the LH front lower lateral link.

    Use punch tool to align the fasteners.
  3. Install a new nut that attaches the LH front lower lateral link to the knuckle.
    180 Nm (132.7 lbs-ft)

    • 22 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  4. Repeat step 1 through step 3 for the RH front lower lateral link.
  5. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  6. Install the hub jack adapter onto the LH front hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts (x5).
  7. Position and raise the underhoist stand to simulate the suspension at ride height.
  8. Measure the distance between the bottom of the fender and the center of the front axle to make sure that the front suspension is set to ride height. The distance should measure 461 mm.
  9. Tighten the bolt and nut that attach the LH strut to the LH front lower lateral link, and then mark the bolt and nut with a paint pen.
    106 Nm (78.2 lbs-ft)

  10. Tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front lower lateral link to the front subframe.
    135 Nm (99.6 lbs-ft)

  11. Remove the underhoist stand from underneath the LH front suspension.
  12. Remove the lug nuts (x5) that attach the hub jack adapter, and then remove the hub jack adapter from the vehicle.
  13. Repeat step #GUID-62BA0B0B-5667-4E7A-9377-FD16DF5909D4__GUID-1F190120-C5C8-4F1D-B45F-FE4E4B78D880 through step #GUID-62BA0B0B-5667-4E7A-9377-FD16DF5909D4__GUID-03210BB4-C904-4322-B402-106690DF5842 for the RH front lower lateral link.
  14. Install the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  16. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
