Trim Cover - 40 Seatback - 2nd Row (7-Seat) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Move the RH front seat forward.

    Adjust the seatback if needed to avoid contacting the headliner.
  2. Fold the 2nd row 40 seatback down.

    Via seat switch or manual tether.
  3. Move the 40 seat forward using the towel bar.
  4. Remove the 2nd row 40 seatback panel.

    9x clips, 2 hooks. Lift up at the top left corner of the 40 back panel to release the clips, and then slide it forward to release the hooks.
  5. Remove the RH shoulder switch from the 40 seat assembly.

    2x clips, 1x connector. Use a plastic trim tool to pry the top of the switch away from the 40 seat assembly to ease removal.
  6. Remove the 40 seat toe kick cover.

  7. Remove the 40 seat harness from the bottom side of the seat frame.

    2x clips, 1x connector. Remove the elastic harness holder to release the harness.
  8. Remove the headrest from the 2nd row 40 seatback assembly.

    Simultaneously depress the guide button and insert a 90 degree pick into the guide opening. Lift up while engaged.
  9. Remove the headrest guides from the 2nd row 40 seatback assembly.

    Pull back on the lower portion of the headrest guide to release the tab while also applying upward force to remove the headrest guides.
  10. Remove the 2nd row 40 seatback assembly.

    4x clips. Release the clips that attach the 40 seatback and lift it upwards. The seat belt will be removed in a later step.
  11. Put the 2nd row 40 seatback assembly on a suitable working surface.
  12. Disconnect the 40 seat heating connector.
  13. Release the 2nd row 40 seatback cover.

    16x tabs. Pull material downward to release it.
  14. Remove the backrest shell from the 2nd row 40 seatback cover.

    Early production models may have staples that hold the material to the shell in some areas.
  15. Remove the 40 seatback cover from the foam.

    3x hogring. Hook & loop attachment around perimeter. Cut the hogrings, clean debris. Note: If 40/60 seat that is not being repaired does not have ISOFIX flag for child seats, the seat covers will also require replacement.

Install

  1. Install the 40 seatback cover to the foam.

    3x hogrings. Small tie wraps may be used as a substitute. If used, trim flush and rotate the tie wraps head away from the visible surface. Hook & loop around the perimeter.
  2. Install the 2nd row 40 seatback cover to the backrest shell.

    16x hooks. Pull the material downward to attach, make sure that the material is distributed evenly on the visible side.
  3. Connect the 40 seat heating pad connector.
  4. Install the LH seatback onto the 40 seat assembly.

    9x clips, 4 hooks. Attach hooks onto the frame rail. Work upwards and fasten all the clips.
  5. Install the headrest guides into the 40 seat assembly.

    Install the headrest guides by pressing them downwards until the lower tab is seated.
  6. Install the headrest onto the 40 seat assembly.
  7. Install the harness onto the bottom of the seat frame.

    2x clips, 1x connector. Install elastic harness retainers.
  8. Install the 40 seat toe kick cover.

    6x clips.
  9. Install the RH shoulder switch to the 40 seat assembly.

  10. Install the 40 backpanel onto the seatback.

    9x clips. Install the back panel clips to the seatback frame starting at the lower back panel, working your way up towards the upper back panel.
  11. Move the 2nd row 40 seatback to the vertical position.

    Via seat switch or manual tether. Remove seatback protection if applicable.
  12. Move the RH front seat to the original position.
