1ST ROW HEADREST POST GUIDE (Remove and Replace)

Warning
Seat base edges are sharp and can cause personal injury. Wear cut resistant gloves when removing the seat from the vehicle, and while performing procedures that involve work on or near the seat base.

Torque Specifications

Replace 1068309-00-A

Remove

  1. Remove the driver seat. See FIRST ROW LEFT HAND SEAT COMPLETE (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the driver seat headrest. See FIRST ROW - HEADREST (Remove and Replace).
  3. Tilt the LH front seat rearward to gain access to the underside of the LH front seat.

    Note
    It is not necessary to disconnect the LH seat harness from the body controller.
  4. Unhook the straps (x2) for the lower section of seat back, and move the seat back flap away from the underside of the seat.
  5. Disconnect the seat back heater connector, and then separate the connector from the seat underside.

    Note
    Slide the connector forward to release it from the seat assembly.
  6. Return the seat to upright position.
  7. Remove the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - 1st Row (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the upper and lower flaps covering the outboard side of the seat back frame.

    Note
    Pull the flaps out of the metal retaining tabs to release them.
  9. Remove the upper and lower flaps covering the inboard side of the seat back frame.

    Pull the flaps out of the metal retaining tabs to release them.
  10. Release the driver seat back trim retainers (x7) from the driver seat back frame and then untie the locking flaps that cover the upper part of the seat back frame.
  11. Pull the seat upholstery away from the side air bag to gain access to the air bag electrical connector.
  12. Press and hold the black tabs on both sides and pull them down to disconnect the airbag electrical connector.
  13. Pull the seat upholstery away from the FSAB to gain access to the air bag electrical connector.
  14. Press and hold the black tabs on both sides and pull them down to disconnect the seat FSAB electrical connector.
  15. Remove the bolt that attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.

    Note
    The bolt is located below the lumbar ECU. Removing this bolt allows ease of access for the following step.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  16. Release the tabs (x2) that attach the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.
  17. Remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat side airbag to the seat back frame.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm deep socket
  18. Carefully pull the driver seat side airbag chute away from the seat back frame.

    CAUTION
    Do not remove the airbag from the airbag chute.
  19. Remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat FSAB to the seat back frame.

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm deep socket
  20. Carefully pull the FSAB and fasteners away from the seat back frame.

    CAUTION
    Do not remove the airbag from the airbag chute.
  21. Remove the seat upholstery by pulling the bottom of the seat back trim away from the seat back frame.

    Note
    Make sure the heater harness and the seat back trim is clear of the seat back frame.
  22. Unlock the bayonets (x4) on the both sides of the headrest post guides.
  23. Remove the headrest post guides.

Install

  1. Install the headrest post guides.
  2. Install the driver seat seat back and foam onto the seat back frame.

    Note
    Start by sliding the foam trim straight onto the seat back frame. Ensure the posts for the headrests engage the seat back foam. Ensure the heater harness and lower trim that engages the frame are pushed through to the back side of the frame.
  3. Position the driver side air bag studs into the seat frame and install new nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat airbag to the seat back frame.
    5.4 Nm (4.0 lbs-ft)

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm deep socket
  4. Connect the driver seat side air bag electrical connector.
  5. Position the driver FSAB studs into the seat frame and install new nuts (x2) that attach the FSAB to the seat back frame.
    5.4 Nm (4.0 lbs-ft)

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm deep socket
  6. Connect the driver seat FSAB electrical connector.
  7. Install the tabs(x2) that attach the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.
  8. Install the bolt that attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    The bolt is located below the lumbar ECU.

    • 10 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  9. Install the lower and upper flaps covering the inboard side of the seat back frame.

    Note
    Pull the flaps over the metal retaining tabs to secure them.
  10. Install the lower and upper flaps covering the outboard corner of the seat back frame.

    Pull the flaps over the metal retaining tabs to secure them.
  11. Tie the locking flaps that cover the upper part of the seat back frame and then install the driver seat back trim retainers (x7) to the driver seat back frame.
  12. Install the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - 1st Row (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the driver seat headrest. See FIRST ROW - HEADREST (Remove and Replace).
  14. Rotate seat to gain access to underside of seat.
  15. Fasten the clip that attaches the seat back heater connector to the seat underside, and then connect the connector.

    Note
    Slide the connector onto the seat frame clip to secure.
  16. Install the seat cushion retaining clips (x2) to the LH front seat suspension.

    Pull the clips tight till the seat suspension is at a proper position for installation.
  17. Return the seat to upright position.
  18. Install the driver seat. See FIRST ROW LEFT HAND SEAT COMPLETE (Remove and Install).
