Power Strut - Liftgate - LH (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the liftgate and support it with a telescoping hood prop.
  2. Fold 2nd row LH seatback down

    Note
    Protect seat back upholstery if necessary
  3. Remove the LH rear body primary seal. See Primary Body Seal - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Partially remove the LH trunk side trim. See Trunk Side Trim LH - Rear Under Body (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    Release only the upper section of trim, Use caution to avoid straining 12v socket harness at rear of trim, All clips and datums shown in image for clarity
  5. Remove the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Release the rear LH section of the headliner.

    Note
    3x clips, 1x guide pin, Pull down as required to provide access to power strut connector.
  7. Disconnect the power strut connector from the body harness.
  8. Release the LH rear power strut harness grommet from the body.
  9. Release the LH upper power strut clip from the liftgate side ball stud, and lay the power strut down on the door jamb.
  10. Release the power strut clip from the body side ball stud.

Install

  1. Install the power strut clip to the body side ball stud.

    Ensure that the spring clip is reset.
  2. Install the power strut clip to the liftgate side ball stud.

  3. Remove the telescoping hood prop from the vehicle.
  4. Insert the power strut harness into the body and install the grommet.
  5. Connect the power strut harness connector.
  6. Install the rear LH section of the headliner.
  7. Install the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Secure the LH trunk side trim. See Trunk Side Trim LH - Rear Under Body (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the LH rear body primary seal. See Primary Body Seal - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
