The side impact airbag deployment depends on the front door sensor's ability to detect a side impact from air pressure. Make sure that there are no uncovered holes in the front door shells. Additionally, always reinstall plugs or tape when servicing or inspecting the front doors and their components.

Torque Specifications

Procedure

  1. Check the LH front window glass fitment with a gap and flush tool.

    Note
    The gap should be within 6-11mm. The flush should be within 2-3.5mm.
  2. Place two pieces of masking tape over the window glass and LH front door outer belt seal, and then carefully cut across the tape where the glass meets the seal, as illustrated.

    This step will help you remember the original position of the glass while you are adjusting it.
  3. Remove the LH front door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (LHD) (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the door plugs (x2) that cover the regulator guide blocks.
  5. Connect the window switch special tool to the door electrical harness.
  6. Loosen the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front window glass to the regulator guide blocks.

    No need to fully remove the bolt.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  7. Close the LH front door with one person sitting in the driver seat.

    Do not pinch the door harness when closing the door.
  8. Use the window switch special tool to raise the LH front window fully.
  9. Check the LH front window glass fitment with a gap and flush tool and readjust the window glass if necessary.
  10. Torque the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front window glass to the regulator guide blocks by the person sitting in the driver seat.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)
  11. Lower the LH front window and open the LH front door, and then disconnect the window switch special tool.
  12. Install the door plugs (x2) that cover the regulator guide blocks.
  13. Install the front LH door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (LHD) (Remove and Install).
