Note
This procedure requires the A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) procedure to be performed. If not already automatically added to the Service Visit, add correction code 18200102 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.

Remove

  1. Set up the AC machine.
  2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  3. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Thermal > Refrigerant System > Start Thermal Fill Drain (Refrigerant only) > Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  4. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See SERVICE KIT - HEPA AND CARBON FILTERS (Remove and Replace).
  5. Disconnect the LV battery. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  7. Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Maintenance).

    Make sure there is no pressure in the A/C system before performing the following steps. Failure to do so may result in damage to components and/or personal injury.

    Warning
    HFO-R1234yf and R134a are considered hazardous and, if handled incorrectly, can cause serious injury. Suitable personal protective equipment, consisting of face and eye protection, safety glasses, face shield, heat-proof gloves, chemical resistant gloves, rubber boots and apron or waterproof overall must be worn when carrying out operations on the air conditioning system.
  8. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the high pressure and temperature sensor.

    CAUTION
    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  9. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the recirc EXV (expansion valve).

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  10. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the liquid cooled condenser EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  11. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  12. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the right side cabin condenser EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  13. Move thermal harness from supermanifold to side.
  14. Remove the bolt that attaches the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve coil to the shut off valve core, and then remove the shut off valve coil from vehicle.

  15. Remove the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve core from the supermanifold.

    • 3/8 to 1/2 in Adapter
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

Install

  1. Lubricate the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve threads and O-rings with the appropriate A/C oil. See Fluids and Capacities for A/C oil specifications. Then hand-start the valve into the supermanifold.
  2. Fully torque the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve core on the supermanifold.
    19 Nm (14.0 lbs-ft)

    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  3. Position the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve coil on the shut off valve core.

    Align shut off valve coil on the shut off valve core.
  4. Install the bolt that attaches the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve coil to the shut off valve core.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  5. Route thermal harness back to supermanifold.
  6. Connect the electrical connector on the right side cabin condenser EXV.

    Push the red locking tab towards the connector to engage the locking mechanism. DO NOT push down or pull up on the red locking tab.
  7. Connect the electrical connector on the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve.

  8. Connect the electrical connector on the liquid cooled condenser EXV.

  9. Connect the electrical connector on the recirc EXV.

  10. Connect the electrical connector on the high pressure and temperature sensor.

  11. Perform the vacuum leak test and oil injection, and A/C refrigerant recharge. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Maintenance).
  12. Connect the LV battery. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  13. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  14. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Thermal > Sensors and Valves > Run Heat Pump Commissioning > Run, and close once the routine is passed.
  15. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  16. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See SERVICE KIT - HEPA AND CARBON FILTERS (Remove and Replace).
