Note
An updated TPMS sensor is available (pictured, black). It performs and is serviced identically to the original sensor (pictured, purple).
  • Both sensor types can be installed on different wheels on the same vehicle.
  • The mounting nuts on both sensor types are cross-compatible, but it is recommended to install the nut that is in newest condition.

Retrofit

  1. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Install the wheel onto the tire machine.
    1. Place the wheel on the tire machine, with the front of the wheel facing up.
    2. Position the center clamp in the wheel.
    3. Position the wheel cone on the center clamp and wheel, and then tighten the cone on the center clamp.
  3. Remove the valve stem cap, remove the valve core, and allow the tire to deflate.

    Warning
The tire will rapidly deflate. Wear proper PPE, such as safety glasses and gloves.
  4. Prepare and loosen the upper tire bead.
    1. Position the upper bead roller at the edge of the upper rim.
    2. Rotate the wheel to loosen the upper tire bead while lubricating the bead during rotation.
    3. Break the top tire bead.
    4. Use the upper roller to press the upper bead down until the valve stem becomes accessible.
  5. Remove and discard the rubber valve stem.
    1. Cut the base of the rubber valve stem flush with the underside of the wheel.
    2. Attach the valve stem puller to the valve stem and pull upwards to remove it; discard after removal.
    3. Inspect and clear any debris from the removal process.
  6. Install a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor.
    1. Remove the valve stem cap from the TPMS sensor.
    2. Remove the nut from the TPMS sensor.
