Front Bumper Beam (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Install)

  • TORQUE WRENCH, DIGITAL+ANGLE, 3/8" DR, FLEX HEAD, 13.5~135Nm
 Replace 1536481-00-A

Remove

  1. Remove the HEPA or big basin assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace) or Cowl Assembly (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove front fascia assembly from vehicle. See Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  3. Disconnect LV Battery. See LV Power (Modify).
  4. Remove LH accelerometer sensor from bumper beam. See Bumper Beam Accelerometer Sensor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove and discard the bolts (x4) that attach the front bumper beam to the LH and RH crush cans.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Socket 3/8in Dr. 6pt. Std. x 15mm
    • Cordless 3/8in Dr Ratchet
    • TORQUE WRENCH, DIGITAL+ANGLE, 3/8" DR, FLEX HEAD, 13.5~135Nm
  6. Use a pry bar to release the front bumper beam from the LH and RH crush cans.

    CAUTION
    Do not damage the body when prying the front bumper.

    TIp
    Slightly tap the front bumper beam with a dead blow hammer to assist with removal of the front bumper.
  7. Remove the front bumper beam from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the front bumper beam to the vehicle.
  2. Use a dead blow hammer to install the front bumper beam to the LH and RH crush cans.
  3. Install bolts securing front bumper beam to crush cans.
    40 Nm (29.5 lbs-ft)

  4. Install LH accelerometer sensors to bumper beam. See Bumper Beam Accelerometer Sensor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Connect LV Battery. See LV Power (Modify).
  6. Install front fascia assembly to vehicle. See Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  7. Install the HEPA or big basin assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace) or Cowl Assembly (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace).
  8. Unlock vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  9. On the touchscreen, tap Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration > Camera Input > Repeaters > Run, and close once the routine is passed.
  10. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  11. Turn steering wheel to center position.
  12. Raise LH front window and Close LH front door.
