Brake Lines - Master Cylinder To HCU (RHD) (Remove and Replace)

Remove
-
Put the vehicle on a 2-post
lift.
TIpEnsure the vehicle is not charging.
- Open the RH front door and lower the window.
- Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See Hepa Filter (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).

Remove the bolt and clips (x2) that
attach the air intake duct, and then remove the air intake duct from the vehicle.
NoteGently pry pin out from the thermal beam then remove the duct from the bulkhead studs.
- Remove the LH and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Position a fluid catcher underneath the front of the vehicle.
- Position a protective fender cover over the fan shroud.
- Disconnect the HVIL connector.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor logic connector.
- Release the clip that attaches the harness to the HV harness bracket.
- Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C compressor ground strap.
- Remove the clip that attaches the radiator inlet hose to the A/C compressor bracket.
- Release the retaining clips (x5) that attach the A/C compressor HV harness to the shock tower support brace.
- Release the clips (x4) that attach the coolant hose to the A/C compressor bracket.

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
A/C compressor and bracket to the shock tower support brace, and then move the
components aside.
NoteSupport the A/C compressor while removing the bolts. Carefully move the A/C compressor and A/C compressor bracket towards the front of the vehicle.
- Disconnect the HCU connector.
- Release the HCU connector harness clip.
- Put absorbent material underneath the brake lines and brake fluid reservoir to catch any spilled fluid.
- Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir cap, and then remove the brake reservoir cap.
- Remove the nut that attaches the master cylinder secondary brake line to the HCU.
- Remove the nut that attaches the master cylinder primary line to the HCU.
- Remove the master cylinder secondary line from the HCU.
- Remove the master cylinder primary line from the HCU.
- Release the clip that attaches the master cylinder brake lines to the rear of the HCU bracket.
- Release the clips (x3) that attach the master cylinder brake lines to the rear of the HCU bracket and body.

Release the master cylinder brake
lines from the clips, and then remove the brake lines from the vehicle.
NoteTake care not to spill brake fluid on vehicle
Install
- Install the master cylinder brake lines in the clips.
- Install the master cylinder brake lines to the rear of the HCU bracket to the body.
- Install the clip that attaches the master cylinder brake lines to the rear of the HCU bracket.
- Install the master cylinder primary brake line to the HCU.
- Install the master cylinder secondary brake line to the HCU.

Install the nut that attaches the
master cylinder primary brake line to the HCU (torque 18 Nm).
CAUTIONStart threading nut by hand to avoid cross threading.

Install the nut that attaches the
master cylinder secondary brake line to the HCU (torque 18 Nm).
CAUTIONStart threading nut by hand to avoid cross threading.
- Attach the clip that attaches the HCU harness to the HCU bracket.
- Connect the HCU connector.
- Install the bolts that attach the A/C compressor and bracket to the shock tower support brace (torque 31 Nm).
- Install the clips (x4) that attach the coolant hose to the A/C compressor bracket.

Install the retaining clips (x5) that
attach the A/C compressor HV harness to the shock tower brace.
NoteVisually inspect the clips and replace any if damaged.
- Install the clip that attaches the radiator inlet hose to the A/C compressor bracket.
- Install the bolt that attaches the A/C compressor ground strap (torque 7 Nm).
- Install the clip that attaches the harness to the HV harness bracket.
- Connect the A/C compressor logic connector.
- Connect the HVIL connector.
- Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the protective fender cover from the fan shroud.
- Remove the fluid catcher from underneath the vehicle.
- Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
- Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir breather cap and remove the cap.
- Add clean brake fluid to the full level in the bleeder reservoir.
- Add clean brake fluid to the MAX level in the reservoir.
- Install the pressure bleeder adapter onto the vehicle brake reservoir.
- Connect power supply to the bleeder tool, and then turn the bleeder tool on.
- Set the brake bleed reservoir pressure to 30 PSI, and then attach the brake bleed reservoir to the brake bleed adapter.

Bleed the inner valve of the LH front
caliper.

Repeat 28 to bleed the inner valve of the RH front caliper.
NoteTo bleed the FR inner valve via the touchscreen, choose.
- Turn off and remove the pressure brake bleeder kit from the vehicle.
- Check the brake fluid level and top off as necessary.
- Install the service brake reservoir cap.
- Remove the absorbent material from underneath the brake booster assembly and the reservoir area.

Perform the following
routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes):
- Press the brake pedal several times to verify proper feel and action.
- Exit Service Mode or disconnect the laptop if applicable (see 0005 - Service Modes).
- Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Install the air intake duct. See Duct - Air Intake (Remove and Replace).
- Install the HEPA filter assembly. See Service Kit - Hepa And Carbon Filters (Remove and Replace).
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).

Perform a road test to make sure there
is proper pedal feel and brake performance.
