Seat base edges are sharp and can cause personal injury. Wear cut resistant gloves when removing the seat from the vehicle, and while performing procedures that involve work on or near the seat base.

Remove

  1. Remove the driver seat. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove the driver headrest. See Headrest - Front Seat - LH (Non-Sport Seat) (Remove and Replace) or Headrest - Front Seat - LH (Sport Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  3. Sport seat: remove the décor panel. See Décor Panel - 1st Row Seat - LH (Sport Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  4. Tilt the LH front seat rearward to gain access to the underside of the LH front seat.

    Note
    It is not necessary to disconnect the LH seat harness from the body controller.
  5. Unhook the straps (x2) for the lower section of seat back, and move the seat back flap away from the underside of the seat.
  6. Disconnect the seat back heater connector, and then separate the connector from the seat underside.

    Slide the connector forward to release it from the seat assembly.
  7. Return the seat to upright position.
  8. Remove the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - 1st Row (Remove and Replace) or Shell - Seat Back - Front Seat (Sport Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the upper and lower flaps covering the outboard side of the seat back frame.

    Pull the flaps out of the metal retaining tabs to release them.
  10. Remove the upper and lower flaps covering the inboard side of the seat back frame.

  11. Disconnect LH front seat back blower connector.
  12. Remove LH front seat back blower.
  13. Release the driver seat back trim retainers (x7 on non-Sport seat, x13 on Sport seat) from the driver seat back frame.

  14. Non-Sport seat: untie the locking flaps that cover the upper part of the seat back frame
  15. Pull the seat upholstery away from the side air bag to gain access to the outer side air bag electrical connector.

  16. Press and hold the black tabs (non-Sport seats) or push down the white tabs (Sport seats) and pull down to disconnect the outer side airbag electrical connector.

  17. Pull the seat upholstery away from the Far Side Air Bag (FSAB) to gain access to the air bag electrical connector.

  18. Press and hold the black tabs on both sides (non-Sport seat) or push down the white tabs (Sport seats) and pull down to disconnect the seat FSAB electrical connector.

  19. Remove the bolt that attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.

    The bolt is located below the lumbar ECU. Removing this bolt allows ease of access for the following step.

    • 10 mm socket

  20. Release the tabs (x2) that attach the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.
  21. Remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat side airbag to the seat back frame.

    • 10 mm deep socket
  22. Carefully pull the driver seat side airbag chute away from the seat back frame.

    Do not remove the airbag from the airbag chute.
  23. Remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat FSAB to the seat back frame.

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm deep socket
  24. Carefully pull the FSAB and fasteners away from the seat back frame.

    CAUTION
    Do not remove the airbag from the airbag chute.
  25. Sport seat: Remove front seat back soft trim cover assembly.

    Note
    2x tabs. Start by pulling the bottom of the seat trim away from the seat frame, ensure the heater harness and the trim is clear of the frame. Lift straight up on the sides of the trim, moving the trim from side to side, to free it from the frame.
  26. Sport seat: Remove the substrate from the front seat back soft trim cover assembly.
  27. Non-Sport seat: remove the seat upholstery by pulling the bottom of the seat back trim away from the seat back frame.

    Make sure the heater harness and the seat back trim is clear of the seat back frame.
  28. Pull the outer air bag chute away from the LH front seat back foam assembly.
  29. Remove the outer air bag from the LH front seat back assembly.

    2x studs. Clear air bag studs from air bag pouch and slide the air bag assembly out. If air bag is dropped or damaged, replace the air bag.
  30. Pull the FSAB chute away from the seat back foam assembly.
  31. Remove the FSAB from the seat back assembly.

    2x studs. Clear air bag studs from the air bag pouch and slide the air bag assembly out. If the air bag is dropped or damaged, replace the air bag.
  32. Remove the heater harness from the seat back trim assembly.

  33. Non-Sport seat: Release the Velcro straps (x4) that attach the driver seat seat back trim to the seat back foam and remove the driver seat seat back trim from the seat back foam.

    Be careful when releasing the straps to avoid damage.
  34. Sport Seat: Remove the front seat back trim assembly from the foam assembly .

    4x clips, 5x Velcro strips. Be cautious when releasing Velcro to avoid damage

Install

  1. Install the seat back heat pad onto the seat back foam.

    Use a new heat pad and new foam pad.

  2. Install the Velcro strips that attach the driver seat seat back trim to the seat back foam.
    • Non-sport seat: 4x Velcro strips
    • Sport seat: 5x Velcro strips, 4x clips

  3. Install the heater harness to the LH front seat back trim assembly.

  4. Install the FSAB into the airbag chute.

    2x studs. Clear studs and slide the air bag into position. Align the studs with the access holes.
  5. Position the FSAB chute into the seat back foam.

    CAUTION
    Make sure that the driver FSAB mounting studs extend out of the holes of the chute.

    CAUTION
    Handle the airbag with extreme care when installing it into the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.
  6. Install the driver side (outer) airbag into the airbag chute, and then insert the airbag chute with the airbag inside through the slot in the seat back foam.

    Make sure that the driver side airbag mounting studs extend out of the holes of the chute.

    Handle the airbag with extreme care when installing it into the airbag chute. The airbag is configured/folded in a specific manner and will need to be replaced if it is dropped, altered or manipulated in any way.
  7. Position the outer air bag chute into front seat back foam

  9. Install the front Seat back soft trim cover assembly onto the seat back frame

    2x tabs. Start by sliding the foam trim straight onto the seat back frame, make sure that the posts for the headrests engage the seat back foam. Make sure that the heater harness and lower trim that engages the frame are pushed through to the back side of the frame.

  10. Position the driver side air bag studs into the seat frame and install new nuts (x2) that attach the driver seat airbag to the seat back frame.
    5.4 Nm (4.0 lbs-ft)

  11. Connect the outer side airbag electrical connector.

  12. Position the driver FSAB studs into the seat frame and install new nuts (x2) that attach the FSAB to the seat back frame.
    5.4 Nm (4.0 lbs-ft)

  13. Connect the seat FSAB electrical connector.

  14. Install the tabs(x2) that attach the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.
  15. Install the bolt that attaches the bottom of the lumbar support to the seat back frame.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  16. Install the lower flap covering the inboard corner of the LH front seat back frame.

    Pull the flap over the metal tangs to secure.
  17. Install the upper flap covering the inboard corner of LH front seat back frame.

    Pull the flap over the metal tangs to secure.
  18. Install the lower flap covering the outboard corner of the LH front seat back frame.

  19. Install the upper flap covering the outboard corner of the LH front seat back frame.

  20. Install the front seat back blower.

    Install blower by rotating it counter-clockwise.
  21. Connect the LH front seat back blower connector.
  22. Install the seat back trim.
    • Non-sport seat: tie the locking flaps that cover the upper part of the seat back frame and then install the driver seat back trim retainers (x7) to the driver seat back frame.
    • Sport seat: Install the seat back trim retainers (x13) onto the LH front seat back frame.
  23. Install the driver seat back shell. See Shell - Seat Back - 1st Row (Remove and Replace).
  24. Sport seat: install the headrest bracket assembly.

  26. Install the driver seat headrest. See Headrest - Front Seat - LH (Non-Sport Seat) (Remove and Replace) or Headrest - Front Seat - LH (Sport Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  27. Sport Seat: Install the LH front décor assembly to the front seat.

  28. Rotate seat to gain access to underside of seat.
  29. Install the seat back heater harness connector to the LH front seat cushion suspension.

    Slide the connector onto the seat frame clip to secure it.
  30. Connect the LH front seat back heater connector.
  31. Install the seat cushion retaining clips (x2) to the LH front seat suspension.

    Pull the clips tight till the seat suspension is at a proper position for installation.
  32. Return the seat to upright position.
  33. Install the driver seat. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
