Gap Hider - Steering Column - Lower (Remove and Replace)

 Reuse

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Move the LH front seat backward.
  3. On the vehicle touchscreen, select Controls > Steering, and use the left steering wheel scroll wheel to adjust the steering column fully outward and downward.
  4. Disconnect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  5. Remove the LH instrument panel end cap. See Instrument Panel - End Cap - Substrate - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH footwell hush panel. See Hush Panel - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the lower instrument panel assembly. See Assembly - Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the driver air bag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove the steering column upper and lower shrouds. See Instrument Panel Steering Column Shroud Lower (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the bolts (x2) securing the lower gap hider to the steering column.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
  12. Remove the lower gap hider from the steering column.
    Note
    2 x clips, 4 x location slots.

Install

  1. lnstall gap hider lower to steering column.
  2. Install bolts securing gap hider lower to steering column.
    2.3 Nm (1.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
  3. Install the steering column upper and lower shrouds. See Instrument Panel Steering Column Shroud Lower (Remove and Replace).
  4. Install the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel (Remove and Install).
  5. Install the driver air bag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the lower instrument panel assembly. See Assembly - Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH footwell hush panel. See Hush Panel - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH instrument panel end cap. See Instrument Panel - End Cap - Substrate - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Connect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  10. On the vehicle touchscreen, select Controls > Steering, and use the left steering wheel scroll wheel to adjust the steering column back to the original position.
  11. Move the LH front seat back to the original position.
  12. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
