ABSORBER FRONT DASH (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Enter Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  2. Remove the driver footwell duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - DRIVER FOOTWELL DUCT (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH front carpet. See CABIN CARPET - FRONT - LEFT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the passenger footwell duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - PASSENGER FOOTWELL DUCT (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the RH front carpet. See CABIN CARPET - FRONT - RIGHT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See SERVICE KIT - HEPA AND CARBON FILTERS (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  8. Disconnect the LV battery. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  9. Remove the wiper module. See Wiper Module (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Air Intake (Remove and Replace).
  11. Disconnect the connectors (x3) on the left side of the car computer.
  12. Release the clips (x2) that attach the electrical harness to the lower of the car computer.
  13. Disconnect the connectors (x3) on the right side of the car computer.
  14. Remove the bolt that attaches the electrical harness to the RH A-pillar.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  15. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the J1 power electrical connector from the RH body controller module.
  16. Disconnect the J6 underhood storage unit electrical connector from the RH body controller module.
  17. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the connector.
  18. Release the clip that attaches the connector to the RH body control module.
  19. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the LV connector.
  20. Release the clip and hook that attach the DCDC cable to the RH harness bracket.
  21. Push the grommet in through the RH bulkhead, and then move the RH side of the front harness in through the RH bulkhead.
  22. Release the clips (x2) that attach the front harness to the RH cowl panel.
  23. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the accelerator pedal connector.
  24. Release the clips (x2) that attach the front harness to the body around the accelerator pedal area.
  25. Release the clips (x3) that attach the front harness to the LH cowl panel.
  26. Pull the front harness from the right side to the left side.
  27. Remove the bolt that attaches the ground harness to the LH A-pillar area.

    • 10 mm deep socket
  28. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the J1 power electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  29. Disconnect the J6 underhood storage unit electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  30. Disconnect the front harness white connector X909 from the LH body harness.
  31. Release the harness clips (x2) from the LH body controller.
  32. Push the grommet in through the LH bulkhead, and then move the LH side of the front harness in through the LH bulkhead.
  33. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the front controller upper ground strap to the body.

  34. Remove the positive jumper post cap.
  35. Remove the stud bolt that attaches the positive jumper post to the cowl screen bracket.

    • Torque wrench with angle measurement
  36. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
  37. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the decoupled power brake (DPB) assembly harness connector.
  38. Remove the front body control module. See ASY. FRONT CONTROLLER GEN 3 (Remove and Install).
  39. Place absorbent material below the car computer coolant hose connection points.
  40. Release the spring clips (x2) and disconnect the inner and the outer coolant hose to the car computer mount, and plug the ends of fittings as soon as possible.

    Loss of coolant greater than 1L requires coolant vacuum fill.
  41. Install the car computer fluid port plug to the inlet and outlet of the car computer.

  42. Remove the nut that attaches the LH corner of the car computer bracket to the body.

  43. Remove the bolt that attaches the dash pencil brace to the body.

  44. Release the cotter clip that attaches the brake clevis clip pin to the pedal assembly.
  45. Remove the brake clevis clip pin from the brake pedal assembly.
  46. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the DPB to the bulkhead, and then carefully remove the DPB from the vehicle.

    Place the DPB assembly on a microfiber towel to prevent damage.

  47. Release the clips (x2) that attach the motor bay noise absorber to the bulkhead.
  48. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the steering column to the steering gear assembly.

  49. Slide the electric steering column upward to remove it from the steering gear assembly.
  50. Remove the front dash noise absorber from the vehicle.

    Pay attention to the steering column, and take care of not damaging the noise absorber.

Install

  1. Install the front dash noise absorber to the vehicle.

  2. Slide the electric steering column downward to install it to the steering gear assembly.
  3. Install a new bolt that attaches the steering column to the steering gear assembly.
    18 Nm (13.3 lbs-ft)

  4. Install the clips (x2) that attach the motor bay noise absorber to the bulkhead.
  5. Position the DPB to the vehicle, and then install new bolts (x2) that attach the DPB to the bulkhead.
    16.5 Nm (12.2 lbs-ft)

  6. Align the brake pedal to the iBooster rod, and then install the brake clevis clip pin to the brake pedal assembly.
  7. Install the cotter clip that attaches the brake clevis clip pin to the pedal assembly.
  8. Install the bolt that attaches the dash pencil brace to the body.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  9. Install the nut that attaches the LH corner of the car computer bracket to the body.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

  10. Remove the plugs (x2) from the car computer coolant hoses.
  11. Remove the car computer fluid port plug from the car computer.
  12. Attach the hoses to the car computer coolant inlet and outlet, and then engage the spring clips (x2).

    Perform a push-pull-push test to ensure the hoses are fully seated.

    Loss of coolant greater than 1L requires coolant vacuum fill.
  13. Remove the absorbent material from below the car computer coolant hose connection points.
  14. Install the front body control module. See ASY. FRONT CONTROLLER GEN 3 (Remove and Install).
  15. Install the stud bolt that attaches the positive jumper post to the cowl screen bracket.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

  16. Install the positive jumper post cap.
  17. Install a new bolt that attaches the front controller upper ground strap to the body.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  18. Connect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
  19. Connect the decoupled power brake (DPB) assembly harness connector.
  20. Feed the LH side of the front harness through the LH bulkhead, and then install the grommet.
  21. Feed the RH side of the front harness through the RH bulkhead, and then install the grommet.
  22. Install the wiper module. See Wiper Module (LHD) (Remove and Replace).
  23. Connect the J6 underhood storage unit electrical connector to the LH body controller module.
  24. Connect the J1 power electrical connector to the LH body controller module.
  25. Install the harness clips (x2) to the LH body controller.
  26. Connect the front harness white connector X909 to the LH body harness.
  27. Install the bolt that attaches the ground harness to the LH A-pillar area.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  28. Install the clips (x3) that attach the front harness to the LH cowl panel.
  29. Install the clips (x2) that attach the front harness to the body around the accelerator pedal area.
  30. Connect the accelerator pedal connector.
  31. Pull the front harness from the left side to the right side.
  32. Install the clips (x2) that attach the front harness to the RH cowl panel.
  33. Install the driver footwell duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - DRIVER FOOTWELL DUCT (Remove and Replace).
  34. Install the LH front carpet. See CABIN CARPET - FRONT - LEFT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  35. Connect the J6 underhood storage unit electrical connector to the RH body controller module.
  36. Connect the J1 power electrical connector to the RH body controller module.
  37. Install the bolt that attaches the electrical harness to the RH A-pillar.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  38. Install the clip and hook that attach the DCDC cable to the RH harness bracket.
  39. Connect the LV connector.
  40. Connect the connector, and then install the clip that attaches the connector to the RH body control module.
  41. Connect the connectors (x3) on the right side of the car computer.
  42. Install the clips (x2) that attach the electrical harness to the lower of the car computer.
  43. Connect the connectors (x3) on the left side of the car computer.
  44. Install the passenger footwell duct. See INSTRUMENT PANEL - PASSENGER FOOTWELL DUCT (Remove and Replace).
  45. Install the RH front carpet. See CABIN CARPET - FRONT - RIGHT HAND (Remove and Replace).
  46. Connect the LV battery. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  47. Remove the coolant bottle cap, and fill the coolant to the a proper level.

    Note
    Ensure that the coolant level is at the "Max" line.
  48. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  49. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Thermal > Coolant System > Coolant Purge Start and select Run to start the routine, and allow the routine to complete.

    Note
    Make sure vehicle is not in Drive, shifting the vehicle into Drive will stop this routine. The test will last approximately 10 mins. The test will vary speeds from 3500-6500 RPM (idle speed = ~1500 RPM) and actuate the valve between series and parallel. If speed hovers at 7000 RPM, it indicates the pump is air locked, perform the vacuum fill again. Continue to add coolant and purge until the coolant level reaches between the NOM and MAX Lines on the bottle.
  50. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  51. Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary, and then install the coolant bottle cap.

    Ensure that the coolant level is at the "Max" line.
  52. Install the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Air Intake (Remove and Replace).
  53. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See SERVICE KIT - HEPA AND CARBON FILTERS (Remove and Replace).
  54. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  55. Raise all windows and close all doors.
  56. Remove the vehicle from the lift.
