Seat Assembly - 2nd Row (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the 2nd row seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the lower C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (5-Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the clips (x3) that attach the rear main cabin carpet to the vehicle.
  4. Disconnect the 2nd row LH seat connector, and then release the clips (x3) that attach the LH seat harness to the seat assembly.
  5. Disconnect the 2nd row RH seat connector, and then release the clips (x2) that attach the LH seat harness to the seat assembly.
  6. Remove and discard the bolts (x7) that attach the 2nd row seat frame to the body.

    The bottom seat bolts are located behind the main carpet.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
  7. Fold the 2nd row LH and RH seat backs down.
  8. With assistance, remove the 2nd row seat assembly from the vehicle.

    Note
    Lift and rotate the 2nd row seat the 2nd row LH seat assembly onto the rear load floor, and then remove the seat assembly from the rear side of the vehicle. Use fender cover to avoid damaging trims.

Install

  1. With assistance, install the 2nd row seat assembly onto the vehicle.

    Note
    Set the 2nd row seat assembly onto the rear load floor through the rear side of the vehicle, and then rotate and install the seat assembly onto the body.
  2. Return the 2nd row LH and RH seat backs to vertical position.
  3. Install new bolts (x7) to attach the 2nd row seat frame to the body. Torque the bolts in sequence: 1. outboard LH front > 2. outboard RH rear > 3. outboard LH rear > 4. outboard RH front > 5&6. both inboard rear > 7. inboard front.
    37 Nm (27.3 lbs-ft)

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:

  4. Connect the 2nd row LH seat connector, and then fasten the clips (x3) that attach the LH seat harness to the seat assembly.
  5. Connect the 2nd row RH seat connector, and then fasten the clips (x2) that attach the LH seat harness to the seat assembly.
  6. Install the clips (x3) that attach the rear main cabin carpet to the vehicle.
  7. Install the lower C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (5-Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the 2nd row seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
