The brake hose is not reusable. If the hose is removed for any reason, it must be replaced with a new one.

Remove

  1. Place the vehicle on the 2-post lift.

    Ensure the vehicle is not charging.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Position the oil drain under the LH rear brake hose area.
  6. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the LH rear brake hose to the LH rear brake caliper.

    Note
    Discard the copper washers (x2) as well.

    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench

  7. Remove the nut that attaches the LH rear brake line to the LH rear brake hose.

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 12 mm 6-point flare nut crowfoot socket (mount at 90 degrees)
  8. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH rear EPB harness to the LH rear brake hose bracket.

  9. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH rear brake hose to the vehicle, and then remove the LH rear brake hose from the vehicle.

    • 10 mm deep socket

Install

  1. Install the bolt that attaches the LH rear brake hose to the vehicle.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  2. Align the locating tab to the brake hose bracket, and then install the bolt that attaches the LH rear EPB harness to the LH rear brake hose bracket.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

  3. Hand-tighten the nut that attaches the LH rear brake line to the LH rear brake hose, and then torque it.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    • 12 mm 6-point flare nut wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 12 mm 6-point flare nut crowfoot socket (mount at 90 degrees)
  4. Install new copper washers (x2) and a new bolt (1188735-00-A) to attach the LH rear brake hose to the LH rear brake caliper.
    42 Nm (31.0 lbs-ft)

    Make sure the brake hose is not twisted.

  5. Remove the oil drain from underneath the LH rear brake hose area.
  6. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height and set the lift onto locks.
  7. Place the vehicle in Service Mode by using the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
  8. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  9. Perform a brake fluid flush on the LH rear brake. See .
