- 2026-06-03: Moved step to confirm proper feel and action after turning off the pressure brake bleeder.
- 2026-01-20: Updated part number for brake bleed adapter.
- 2025-04-10: Added torque values for different brake calipers.
Equipment:
- 1080579-00-A - Pneumatic Brake Bleeder
- 1080578-00-C - Brake Bleed Adapter M3/Y (NA)
- 1080578-01-A - Brake Bleed Adapter M3/Y (except NA)
Procedure
- Review the bleeder service tool profile.
-
Place the vehicle on the
2-post lift.
TIpEnsure the vehicle is not charging.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Raise the vehicle and remove all four wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Lower the vehicle to a working height.
- Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox to the vehicle. See Toolbox (Connect and Disconnect).
- Perform the following routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes): PROC_DPB_X_ASSEMBLY-MODEvia Service Mode Plus:Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Enter/Exit Assembly Modevia Toolbox:(link)
- Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir breather cap and remove the cap.
- Add clean brake fluid to the full level in the bleeder reservoir.
- Add clean brake fluid to the MAX level in the reservoir.
- Install the pressure bleeder adapter onto the vehicle brake reservoir.
- Connect power supply to the bleeder tool, and then turn the bleeder tool on.
- Set the brake bleed reservoir pressure to 30 PSI, and then attach the brake bleed reservoir to the brake bleed adapter.
-
Bleed the LH front
caliper.
-
Repeat step 14 for the RH front caliper.
NoteFor the RH front caliper, select Bleed FR Caliper via the touchscreen or PROC_DPB_BRAKE-FLUID-CHANGEvia Service Mode Plus:chassis ➜ DPB Post Replacement ➜ Bleed FR Calipervia Toolbox:(link) via the toolbox when performing the routine.
-
With assistance, manually
bleed the LH rear caliper.
- Repeat step 16 for the RH rear caliper.
- Turn off and remove the pressure brake bleeder kit from the vehicle.
- Press the brake pedal several times to verify proper feel and action.
- Check the brake fluid level and top off as necessary.
- Install the service brake reservoir cap.
-
Perform the following
routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes):
TEST-SELF_DPB_TMC-BRAKE-PEDAL-PRESSvia Service Mode Plus:chassis ➜ DPB Post Replacement ➜ Master Cylinder Stiffness Testvia Toolbox:(link)
Note
If the test fails, Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush - Master Cylinder (Add-On) (Maintenance) procedure is required.
And if the Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush - Master Cylinder (Add-On) (Maintenance) procedure is still failed, perform Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (DPB) (Maintenance).
-
Perform the following
routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes):
TEST-SELF_BRAKE_X_DPB-ESP-CORNER-STIFFNESS-TESTvia Service Mode Plus:
- chassis ➜ DPB Post Replacement ➜ Corner Stiffness Test
- chassis ➜ ESP Post Replacement ➜ Corner Stiffness Test
NoteIf the test fails due to leakage, identify and address the root cause of the leak.
If the test fails due to stiffness, perform a brake fluid bleed procedure on the failed caliper. If the test still fails after completing the brake fluid bleed procedure on the failed caliper, proceed with the Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (DPB) (Maintenance) Procedure.
- Exit Service Mode or disconnect the laptop if applicable (see 0005 - Service Modes).
- Install all four wheels and lower the vehicle. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
-
Perform a road test to make
sure there is proper pedal feel and brake performance.
NoteAdd test drive correction code 00040100 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.
