Suspension - Front (Check Torque) (Test/Adjust)

Correction code 31019000 FRT 0.72 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the correction code and FRT listed above reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Remove the front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Check the torque for the nut that attaches the front stabilizer end link to the LH front damper, and then mark the nut with a paint pen.
    98 Nm (72.3 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T40 socket
  3. Check the torque for the nut that attaches the LH front tie rod end to the LH front suspension knuckle, and then mark the nut with a paint pen.
    180 Nm (132.7 lbs-ft)

    • 22 mm deep socket
  4. Check the torque for the nut that attaches the LH front upper control arm to the LH front suspension knuckle, and then mark the nut with a paint pen.
    56 Nm (41.3 lbs-ft)

  5. Repeat step 2 through step 4 on the right side of the front suspension.
  6. Remove the front fascia valance assembly. See Valance - Front Fascia (Remove and Replace).

    It is not necessary to separate the speaker from the valance.
  7. Check the torque for the bolt that attaches the LH front lower aft link to the front subframe, and then mark the nut with a paint pen.
    115 Nm (84.8 lbs-ft)

  8. Check the torque for the bolts that attach the LH front lower lateral link to the front subframe, and then mark the nuts with a paint pen.
    190 Nm (140.1 lbs-ft)

    Note
    There are two types of bolts that are difficult to distinguish visually, each requiring different torque values.
    • 2123635-00-A (Currently only available in EMEA and APAC): 190 Nm
    • 1109912-00-B (NA, use only): 135 Nm

    Refer to article 27022 to confirm the residue torque and set the torque value in the digital torque wrench to 115Nm:

    1. If the bolt rotation is less than 180 degrees, retighten to 135 Nm;
    2. Otherwise replace the bolts and tighten them to the standard torque value listed in the Link - Lateral - Lower - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).

  9. Check the torque for the nut that attaches the LH front lower aft link to the knuckle, and then mark the nut with a paint pen.
    180 Nm (132.7 lbs-ft)

  10. Check the torque for the nut that attaches the LH front lower fore link to the knuckle, and then mark the nut with a paint pen.

  11. Check the torque for the nut to attach the stabilizer bar link to the stabilizer bar, and then mark the nut with a paint pen.
    98 Nm (72.3 lbs-ft)

  12. Install the hub jack adapter onto the LH front hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts (x5).
  13. Position and raise the underhoist stand to simulate the suspension at ride height.
  14. Measure the distance between the bottom of the fender and the center of the front axle to make sure that the front suspension is set to ride height. The distance should measure 461 mm.
  15. Check the torque for the bolt and nut that attach the LH front strut to the LH front lower lateral link, and then mark the nut with a paint pen.
    106 Nm (78.2 lbs-ft)

  16. Remove the underhoist stand from underneath the LH front suspension.
  17. Remove the lug nuts (x5) that attach the hub jack adapter, and then remove the hub jack adapter from the vehicle.
  18. Repeat step 7 through step 17 on the right side of the front suspension.
  19. Check the torque for the nuts (x4) that attaches the LH and RH front stabilizer bar to the front subframe, and then mark the nuts with a paint pen.
    35 Nm (25.8 lbs-ft)

  20. Check the torque for the small bolts (x2) that attach the rear of the LH and RH front subframe to the body, and then mark the nuts with a paint pen.
    50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)

  21. Check the torque for the larger bolts (x2) that attach the rear of the LH and RH front subframe to the body, and then mark the nuts with a paint pen.
    125 Nm (92.2 lbs-ft)

    72 Nm (53.1 lbs-ft)
