Remove

  1. Place the vehicle on the 2-post lift.
    Tip
Ensure the vehicle is not charging.
  2. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH wiper bracket pencil brace. See Pencil Brace - Wiper Bracket - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Release the clip that attaches the LH front wheel speed sensor harness to the front upper control arm.
  6. Disconnect the connector that attaches the LH front wheel speed sensor harness to the front damper assembly, and then release the grommet to remove the harness.
  7. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the front stabilizer bar end link to the LH front strut and separate the end link from the strut.
    Note
Counter-hold the ball joint while loosening the nut.
    Tip
If needed, use a pry bar to release the end link.
    Tip
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 18 mm socket
    • Torx T40 socket
  8. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the LH front upper control arm to the knuckle, and then discard the nut.
    Note
Compress the upper control arm ball joint downwards to help release the bolt.
    Note
Hold the knuckle to avoid failing.
    Tip
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • Torx T50 socket
  9. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the LH front lower lateral link to the strut.
    Tip
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  10. Remove the nuts (x3) that attach the LH front damper assembly to the LH front upper control arm mount.
    Tip
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  11. Push the bottom of the damper coil inward, and then remove it from above.
    Note
Avoid damaging the half shaft while removing.

Install

  1. Place the LH front damper coil to the vehicle, push its bottom then top inward.
    Note
Avoid damaging the half shaft while removing.
  2. Hand tighten the bolt and nut that attach the LH strut to the LH front lower lateral link.
  3. Install the nuts (x3) that attach the LH front damper assembly to the LH front upper control arm mount.
    23 Nm (17.0 lbs-ft)
    Tip
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  4. Position the LH front control arm to the knuckle, and then install the bolt and a new nut that attach the LH front upper control arm to the knuckle.
    56 Nm (41.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip
Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
    • Torx T50 socket
  5. Position the front stabilizer end link onto the LH front strut, and then install a new nut that attaches the front stabilizer end link to the LH front strut.
    98 Nm (72.3 lbs-ft)
    Note
Counter-hold the ball joint while torquing the nut.
    Tip
