Harness - Driver Seat (Model YL) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the driver seat assembly. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install)
  2. Remove the driver seat back panel. See Shell - Seat Back - Driver Seat (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  3. Unhook the upper flaps that cover the LH and RH lower corners of the seat back frame.

    Note
    Pull the flaps out of the metal retaining tabs to release them.
  4. Release the driver seat back trim retainers (x4) from the driver seat back frame.
  5. Pull the seat upholstery away from the inboard airbag to gain access to the electrical connector and then press both white tabs down to release and disconnect the driver seat inboard airbag electrical connector.
  6. Pull the seat upholstery away from the outboard airbag to gain access to the electrical connector and then press both white tabs down to release and disconnect the driver seat outboard airbag electrical connector.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the driver seat back blower.
  8. Disconnect the electrical harness from the recliner motor connector.
  9. Disconnect the electrical harness from the lumbar valve pack and ECU.
  10. Disconnect the electrical harness from the lumbar pump connector.
  11. Partially release the clips (x6) and tab that attach the electrical harness to the seat frame.
  12. Remove the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield Assembly - Outboard - Driver Seat (6 Seat) (Remove and Install).
  13. Release the safety lock, and then disconnect the driver seatbelt pretensioner connector.
  14. Release the seatbelt pretensioner harness from the harness bracket.

    Move the harness bracket forward and then backward to remove.
  15. Release the seatbelt buckle harness from the seat cushion frame.

  16. Disconnect the seatbelt buckle connector, and then release the clip and hook.
  17. Rotate the seat to gain access to the underside of the seat cushion frame.

    Protect the seat cushion from damage.
  18. Disconnect the driver seat cushion extender motor connector.
  19. Disconnect the driver seat cushion blower connector.
  20. Disconnect the driver seat back heater connector.
  21. Disconnect the driver seat cushion heater connector.
  22. Disconnect the driver seat occupancy sensor connector and set the harness aside.
  23. Release the clips (x3) that attach the driver seat track motor harness to the track motor bridge.
  24. Disconnect the driver seat track motor connector.
  25. Disconnect the driver seat tilt motor connector.
  26. Disconnect the driver seat height adjuster motor connector.
  27. Remove the clip which is next to the cushion heater connector and attaches the harness to the bottom of the driver seat.
  28. Remove the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the outboard seat track.
  29. Remove the clips (x2) that attach the driver seat switch harness to the seat cushion frame.
  30. Release the clips (x3) to remove the seat harness bracket from the driver seat assembly.

    Note
    Use a 90 degree tip to release the clips from the back of the bracket.
  31. Remove the seat harness assembly from the seat frame.

    Make sure that the harness branches are not snagged.

Install

  1. Position the new seat harness for installation.

    Note
    With the wire harness bracket as the center, route the harness under the lift motor and tilt motor placing the harness legs in the correct locations. Harness clips will be installed later.
  2. Secure the clips (x3) to install the seat harness bracket to the driver seat assembly.
  3. Install the clips (x2) that attach the driver seat switch harness to the seat cushion frame.
  4. Install the clip that attaches the driver seat harness to the outboard seat track.
  5. Connect the driver seat track motor connector.
  6. Connect the driver seat height adjuster motor connector.
  7. Connect the driver seat tilt motor connector.
  8. Install the clips (x3) that attach the driver seat track motor harness to the track motor bridge.
  9. Install the clip which is next to the cushion heater connector and attaches the harness to the bottom of the driver seat.
  10. Connect the driver seat back heater connector.
  11. Connect the driver seat cushion heater connector.
  12. Connect the seat occupancy sensor connector, then secure the tabs (x2) to install the connector to the driver seat harness bracket.

    Note
    Make sure that the harness is not pinched between the cushion and frame.
  13. Connect the driver seat cushion blower connector.
  14. Connect the driver seat cushion extender motor connector.
  15. Return the seat to the upright position.
  16. Install the seatbelt pretensioner harness bracket.

    Note
    Slide the bracket under the frame, and then move it backward to install.
  17. Connect the driver seat belt pretensioner connector.

    Ensure the connector safety lock is engaged.
  18. Connect the driver seat belt buckle connector, and then engage the clip and hook.
  19. Install the seatbelt buckle harness bracket.

    Slide the bracket under the frame, and then move it backward to install.
  20. Install the driver seat outboard side shield. See Side Shield Assembly - Outboard - Driver Seat (6 Seat) (Remove and Install).
  21. Install the clips (x6) and tab that attach the electrical harness to the seat frame.
  22. Connect the electrical harness to the lumbar valve pack and ECU.
  23. Connect the electrical harness to the recliner motor connector.
  24. Connect the electrical harness to the lumbar pump connector.
  25. Connect the electrical connector to the driver seat back blower.
  26. Connect the electrical connector to the driver seat outboard air bag electrical connector.
  27. Connect the electrical connector to the driver seat inboard air bag electrical connector.
  28. Engage the driver seat back trim retainers (x4) to the driver seat back frame.
  29. Hook the upper flaps that cover the LH and RH lower corners of the seat back frame.
  30. Install the driver seat back panel. See Shell - Seat Back - Driver Seat (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  31. Install the driver seat assembly. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install)
