Headlight Assembly - Pair (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the window.
  2. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  3. Open the hood.
  4. Remove the HEPA filter or cowl assembly

    Vehicle configuration may vary. With HEPA filter: 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm. Pivot rear edge up past the brake fluid reservoir, then lift up to clear the underhood storage unit. Without EPA filter: 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, 14x clips. Fold rear lip of base underhood storage unit forward to access the forward cowl clips. Lift cowl clips to release the cowl bracket.
  5. Remove the front fascia. See Front Fascia (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Install).
  6. Disconnect the LH headlight connector.
  7. Remove the LH headlight assembly.

    1x alignment stud, 2x clips, 1x datum, 3x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm. Remove fasteners, and then firmly push the light forward to release.
  8. Disconnect the RH headlight connector.
  9. Remove the RH headlight.

Install

  1. Install the RH headlight.

    1x alignment stud, 2x clips, 1x datum, 3x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm. Make sure that the clips and datums are fully engaged before installing the bolts.
  2. Connect the RH headlight connector.
  3. Install the LH headlight.

    1x alignment stud, 2x clips, 1x datum, 3x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm. Make sure that the clips and datums are fully engaged before installing the bolts.
  4. Connect the LH headlight connector.
  5. Install the front fascia. See Front Fascia (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Install).
  6. Install the LH and RH front fender garnishes. See Fender Garnish - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) and Fender Garnish - Front - RH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  8. Remove tape from headlamps and fenders
  9. Install HEPA filter or cowl assembly.

    Note
    Vehicle configuration may vary. With HEPA filter: 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, Pivot forward edge down past the underhood storage unit, then carefully move rear edge past the brake fluid reservoir and into position. Gently press on the RH side of the filter to seat seal it onto duct. Without HEPA filter: 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, 14x clips. Attach cowl assembly fasteners, then install the cowl. Fold it near the flap of the base underhood storage unit to access the front row of clips to the cowl. Replace any missing or damaged clips. Do not pinch the washer line in between the cowl assembly and the body.
  10. Close the hood.
  11. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  12. Clear the camera calibration through the touchscreen.

    Note
    Touch Driver Assist > Cameras > Clear Camera Calibration > Camera Input, select the front camera, and then touch Run.
  13. Reinstall the vehicle software. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  14. Exit Service Mode.
  15. Raise the LH front window and close the door.
  16. Adjust the headlights. See Headlamps - Adjust (SAE) (Model Y Standard) (Adjust w/ Tool) (Test/Adjust) or Headlights - Adjust (ECE) (Model Y Standard) (Tool Method) (Test/Adjust).
