Harness - IP Harness (Model Y Standard) (LHD) (Remove and Install)

Remove

Open all four doors
Lower all four windows
Move LH front seat backward

Note
Via UI > Seat Controls, Use steering wheel scroll wheel as needed
Move RH front seat backward

Open hood
Power off vehicle from center display

Note
Via Controls > Safety > Power Off, Select Power Off button at warning dialogue box
Remove HEPA filter or big basin

Note
Vehicle configuration may vary, W/ HEPA: 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, Pivot rear edge up past brake reservoir then lift up to clear frunk assembly, W/O HEPA: 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, 14x clips, Fold rear lip of base frunk forward to access forward cowl clips, Lift cowl clips to release basin bracket
Disconnect LV battery and first responder loop

Note
2x connectors, Release green locking tab, Press black tab then pull black connector lock outwards to release connection, Release red lock tab on FRL, Allow 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge
Partially remove LH front primary door seal from body
Remove center console LH front side panel

17x clips, 2x datums, Maneuver around KAB cover to prevent damage
Remove LH bolts securing center console to vehicle

Note
2x bolts, 10mm, 7 Nm
Remove LH IP end cap

5x clips, 2x guide tabs
Remove LH upper A-pillar trim

5x clips, 2x guide tabs, 1x datum, 1x tether, Partially release trim at top edge then release tether, Pull trim inwards then rotate rearwards to release from IP, Tether may vary by revision
Remove LH lower A pillar trim from body

Note
7x clips,4x guide tabs, 1x push clip, Pull rear of lower A-pillar upward to release clip then pull rearward to release front tabs from carpet
Release LH footwell cover

Note
2x magnets, 2x datums, Cover is attached to carpet
Remove LH knee air bag bolt covers

Note
2x covers
Remove bolts securing LH knee air bag

Note
4x bolts, EP10, 8.5 Nm, Discard after removal
Remove LH knee air bag assembly from IP carrier

2x connectors, Peel back plastic film, Release airbag connector by pulling back both white tabs simultaneously, Avoid straining harness, Only one tab visible in image matching tab is on opposite side
Remove IP lower assembly from IP carrier

13x clips, 1x screw, T20, 2.3 Nm
Remove LH footwell duct from HVAC module

1x clip, Pull LH footwell duct towards LH side of vehicle to remove
Partially release RH front primary door seal

For remove RH IP end cap, RH lower A pillar trim, RH front B pillar trim
Remove center console RH front side panel

Disconnect RH IP air wave duct thermistor connector

Remove center console rear end panel

7x clips, 6x guides, Release upper clips then lower guides
Remove rear bolts securing center console to vehicle

Release center console connector

Remove center console

Tilt rear of console upward, Pull assembly toward rear of vehicle then tilt front of console upward, Both front seats must fully rearward
Release driver air bag assembly away from steering wheel

2x spring clips, 2x datums, Press the spring from two access holes to release, Access holes located at 4 and 8 o’clock position, Do not insert tool too far as air bag connector could be damaged
Remove driver air bag

Disconnect steering wheel connector

1x patch bolt, 10mm hex, 80 Nm, Discard after removal, Counter hold the steering wheel when breaking bolt loose, need assist
Remove steering wheel
Remove steering column upper shroud

6x clips, 4x tabs, Pull upward to release upper shroud from lower shroud
Remove steering column lower shroud

2x screws, T20, 1.35 Nm, 1x clip, Slide rearward to release
Disconnect steering column control module connector

1x connector, Remove and discard retaining clip, Clip designed to break upon removal, Ensure no debris remains in connector, Original clip is black, Replacement clip is orange
Remove steering column control module

1x bolt, T20, 2.4 Nm, 1x clip, Loosen the bolt, not need remove
Remove IP service panel from IP

Remove bolts securing center display to IP bracket

Remove center display from IP

Slide towards rear of vehicle to remove, Place towel onto center console to protect display

Release bolts securing both sides curtain air bag to body

Position protective pad on IP

Remove center IP speaker

Remove screw securing IP carrier to cross car beam on upper LH side

Disconnect passenger airbag squib connectors

Remove fasteners securing IP carrier at passenger air bag

Disconnect RH IP top pad harness connector

Remove screw securing IP carrier to cross car beam on upper RH side

Disconnect RH IP speaker

Disconnect LH IP speaker

Release center section of IP harness

1x connector, 8x clips, Feed harness out from blower motor and cowl area
Release RH section of IP harness

3x connectors, 4x clips, 2x hooks, Release HVAC harness from IP harness hooks, Connector J10
Remove IP harness from cross car beam

Note
Ensure harness does not snag any components during removal, Watch for any unreleased clips
Close LH front door

Install

Position IP harness onto cross car beam
Secure RH section of IP harness

Note
3x connectors, 4x clips, 2x hooks, Secure HVAC harness to IP harness hooks, Connector J10
Secure center section of IP harness

Note
1x connector, 8x clips, Route harness to blower motor and cowl area
Secure LH section of IP harness

Note
2x connectors, 7x clips, Engage locking tabs, Connectors J10 J11, Route harness through steering column gap hider
Secure lower section of IP harness

Connect IP harness connector onto RCM

Install LH IP air wave duct

Install IP upper carrier to vehicle

Install center IP speaker

Install fastener securing IP assembly to cross car beam on upper LH side

Position protective pad on IP

Prepare for installation wrap around assembly
Install wrap around assembly

Remove protective pad
Install float wing assembly

Connect center display to IP harness connectors

Install center display to IP

Slide towards front of vehicle, Remove towel from center console
Install fasteners securing center display to IP bracket

2x bolts, 10mm, 16 Nm, Install new bolts
Install IP service panel into IP

Install steering column control module

1x bolt, T20, 2.4 Nm, 1x clip, Ensure SCCM is fully seated
Connect steering column control module connector

1x connector, Install new orange retaining clip to connector then install SCCM connector, Perform push-pull-push to make sure connector is seated properly
Install steering column lower shroud

Note
2x screws, T20, 1.35 Nm, 1x clip, Slide forward to engage clip
Install steering column upper shroud

Note
6x clips, 4x tabs, Ensure upper shroud is fully seated to lower shroud
Position steering wheel

Note
Align the triangle mark on the steering wheel with the mark on the steering column
Install steering wheel to steering column

Note
1x patch bolt, 10mm hex, 80 Nm, Install new patch bolt, assistants may be required
Connect steering wheel connector

Position driver air bag

Install driver air bag assembly to steering wheel

Note
2x spring clips, 2x datums, Position driver air bag onto steering wheel, Make sure that the driver air bag harness doesn’t get caught between the driver air bag and the horn mechanism, Align datums onto clips, Press down on one side of air bag until clip is fully seated, then repeat on other side, You should hear an audible click, Perform pull test on each side of driver air bag assembly, Confirm the gap and space between driver air bag assembly to steering wheel is symmetrical
Position center console

Note
Tilt front of console downward, Slide assembly toward front of vehicle then tilt rear of console downward, Both front seats must fully rearward
Secure center console connector

Install rear bolts securing center console to vehicle

Install LH footwell duct to HVAC module

Install RH IP end cap

Install RH front primary door seal

Connect first responder loop and LV battery

2x connectors, Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated
Install HEPA filter or big basin

Vehicle configuration may vary, W/ HEPA: 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, Pivot forward edge down past frunk assembly, Then carefully move rear edge past brake reservoir and into position, Gently press on RH side of filter to seat seal onto duct, W/O HEPA: 2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, 14x clips, Secure basin fasteners then install basin cowl, Fold rear flap of base frunk back to access front row of clips to cowl, Replace any missing or damaged clips, Do not pinch washer line in between big basin and body
Close hood
Move RH front seat to original position
