Raise and support vehicle
NoteEnsure vehicle is not charging, Remove charging cable if it's plugged in

Open LH front door
-
Lower LH front window

Access thermal system routines via UI
NoteSelect Service mode > Thermal

Open hood
-
Power off vehicle from center display
NoteVia Controls > Safety > Power Off, Select Power Off button at warning dialogue box

Remove rear apron
Note16x trim clips, 3x datums, 2x clips
-
Remove HEPA filter assembly
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, Pivot rear edge up past brake reservoir then lift up to clear frunk assembly
-
Disconnect LV battery and first responder loop
Note2x connectors, Ensure that one minute has passed after window movement before performing the power-off, Release green locking tab, Press black tab then pull black connector lock outwards to release connection, Release red lock tab on FRL, Allow 2 minutes for all electrical circuits to fully discharge

Remove frunk access panel
Note3x clips, 3x tabs, 1x connector, Newer vehicles will not be equipped with emergency release switch

Remove bolts securing frunk to vehicle
Note4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
-
Remove frunk from vehicle
Note4x clips, 3x tabs, 2x trim clips, Replace any clips if broken or missing
-
Remove air intake duct
Note2x clips, 1x align pin, 1x bolt, 10mm, 4 Nm, Gently pry pin out from thermal beam then remove duct from bulkhead studs

Remove steering gear harness clips from frunk support beam
Note3x clips
-
Remove bolts securing frunk support beam to vehicle
Note2x bolts, E14, 46.5 Nm
-
Remove frunk support beam from cooling fan module assembly
Note2x alignment tabs, Slide the frunk support beam towards rear of vehicle
-
Disconnect active grille shutter actuator connector
Note1x connector, Pull tab to release lock then pull again to release connector, Do not press down on tab
-
Raise vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks
NoteSet vehicle to comfortable working height, Ensure an audible click of locks on both sides is heard before lowering, Vehicle may tilt to the side if both locks are not engaged

Remove bolts securing front aero shield
Note7x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
-
Remove front aero shield
Note2x nuts, 15mm, 5 Nm
-
Remove clips secure LH wheel liner to front fascia and valance
Note3x push clips
-
Remove clips secure RH wheel liner to front fascia and valance
Note3x push clips
-
Remove both side bolts securing valance to fascia
Note2x bolts, T40, 2.5Nm
-
Disconnect superhorn connector
Note1x clip, 1x connector, Do not push down on Red tab, Pull red tab to disengage lock, Pull again to release connector

Remove valance from front fascia
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, 4x bolts, T40, 2.5 Nm, 6x location tabs

Place coolant catcher below LH front of vehicle
-
Disconnect radiator inlet hose from radiator
Note1x spring clip, Plug hose and radiator as needed

Place coolant catcher below RH front of vehicle
-
Disconnect radiator outlet hose from radiator
Note1x spring clip, Plug hose and radiator as needed

Remove coolant catcher from under vehicle
-
Disconnect cooling fan connector
Note1x connector
-
Place jack to under cooling fan module assembly
Noteprevent cooling fan module assembly falling
-
Remove LH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end module
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 6 Nm, Be careful not to lose the bolt washer
-
Remove RH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end module
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 6 Nm, Be careful not to lose the bolt washer

Remove ambient temperature sensor from cooling fan module
Note1x clip, 1x grommet, Depress tabs to release connector clip
-
Remove cooling fan module assembly from vehicle
NoteMove jack aside as needed, recommended assistance

Remove active grille shutter from cooling fan module
Note14x locking tabs, Release locking tabs securing active grill shutter to cooling fan and shroud assembly

Remove radiator from cooling fan module assembly
Note2x locking tab, 2x holding mount, Release upper and lower locking tabs securing radiator to cooling fan and shroud assembly then draw out from holding mount, If new radiator assembly is found without stone guard follow Stand Alone procedure 18302500402If found with stone guard follow Stand Alone procedure

Remove stone guard
Note2x clips, 2x datums

Clean debris from radiator
NoteVacuum both sides of radiator, Do not damage fins of radiator

Clean radiator with compressed air
NoteClean both sides of radiator with compressed air, Do not damage fins of radiator

Install stone guard
Note2x clips, 2x datums

Install thermal foam liner
Note3x foam strips

Install radiator to fan and shroud
Note2x locking tabs, 2x slots, Slide radiator into slots on shroud then push downwards to engage locking tabs

Install active grille shutter to cooling fan module
Note14x locking tabs, Ensure all tabs are engaged
-
Install ambient temperature sensor to active grille shutter
Note2x locking tabs, 1x rubber plug, ensure sensor locking tabs on correct position

Install cooling fan module assembly to vehicle
Note2x bolts, 8mm, 6 Nm, Loosely install LH and RH bolts, make sure that washers are aligned, Be careful not to lose the bolt washer

Torque RH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end module
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 6 Nm

Torque LH bolt securing cooling fan module assembly to front end module
Note1x bolt, 8mm, 6 Nm

Remove jack from under cooling fan module assembly
-
Connect cooling fan connector
Note1x connector

Place coolant catcher below LH front of vehicle
-
Connect radiator inlet hose to radiator
Note1x spring clip, Remove plugs from both ends of the coolant connection, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully seated

Place coolant catcher below RH front of vehicle
-
Connect radiator outlet hose to radiator
Note1x spring clip, Remove plugs from both ends of the coolant connection, Perform push-pull-push test to make sure hose is fully seated

Remove coolant catcher from under vehicle
-
Lower vehicle fully
NoteRaise lift off locks, Then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered

Install frunk support beam to cooling fan module assembly
Note2x alignment tabs, Position alignment tabs to support beam mounts
-
Install bolts securing frunk support beam to vehicle
Note2x bolts, E14, 46.5 Nm
-
Secure steering gear harness clips to frunk support beam
Note3x clips
-
Connect active grille shutter actuator connector
Note1x connector, Engage locking tab
-
Install frunk onto vehicle
Note4x clips, 3x tabs, 2x trim clips, Replace any clips if broken or missing, Ensure aero seal is positioned over frunk leading edge and not under leading edge

Install bolts securing frunk to vehicle
Note4x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm
-
Install frunk access panel
Note3x clips, 3x tabs, 1x connector, Newer vehicles will not be equipped with emergency release switch

Place towel into front storage area
NotePrevent front storage area pollution

Remove coolant bottle cap
-
Place empty coolant container into front storage area
-
Fill container with coolant
NoteDo not draw in air during fill process, For RWD, The entire system requires coolant is 15L, for AWD, The entire system requires coolant is 18L
-
Place filled coolant container into front storage area
-
Install coolant reservoir adapter cap
onto coolant bottle assembly
Note(*Use step for Model Y & NV36 coolant procedures)1x adapter cap, Adapter found in Vacuum Refill kit, turn clockwise to tighten cap onto coolant bottle

Setup vacuum refill tool
NoteVerify all valves on refill tool are in the closed position, See image for clarity

Connect vacuum refill hose to refill cap on coolant bottle
NotePerform push-pull-push test to verify hose is fully engaged
-
Position overflow hose into empty container
-
Place refill hose inside filled coolant container
NoteMake sure hose end is fully submerged into coolant
-
Connect shop air supply to coolant refill tool
-
Open air inlet valve to draw a vacuum, Once gauge stabilizes, Fully close valve
NoteGauge stabilizes roughly (60-70 cmHg), Vacuum should not drop after the valves are closed
-
Monitor gauge for 30 seconds to verify a vacuum is maintained in cooling system
-
Slowly open refill valve to allow coolant to be drawn into system
NoteMake sure hose end of refill hose is fully submerged during entire process
-
Once gauge reads zero, close refill valve
-
Disconnect shop air supply from coolant refill tool
-
Remove coolant refill hose from coolant container
-
Remove coolant overflow hose from coolant container
-
Disconnect vacuum refill hose from refill cap on coolant bottle
-
Remove refill tool cap from coolant bottle assembly
-
Remove coolant refill tool from vehicle
-
Remove both coolant containers from inside underhood area
-
Connect first responder loop and LV battery
Note2x connectors, Secure FRL first, Seat LV battery connection and push black connector lock inwards to secure, Engage green locking tab when fully seated

Install valance to front fascia
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, 4x bolts, T40, 2.5 Nm, 6x location tabs, Make sure all location tabs on correct position in fascia

Connect superhorn connector
Note1x clip, 1x connector, Engage locking tab

Install both side bolts securing valance to fascia
Note2x bolts, T40, 2.5 Nm

Install clips secure RH wheel liner to front fascia and valance
Note3x push clips
-
Install clips secure LH wheel liner to front fascia and valance
Note3x push clips
-
Position front aero shield onto vehicle
Note2x datums, 2x nuts, 15mm, 5 Nm, Hand-tighten the nuts to temporarily hold the panel in place

Install front aero shield onto vehicle
Note7x bolts, 10mm, 5 Nm, Apply Loctite 222 onto front aero shield bolts and install fasteners to front aero shield

Torque front aero shield nuts
Note2x nuts, 15mm, 5 Nm

Lower vehicle fully
NoteRaise lift off locks, Then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
-
Coolant air purge run time
NoteRun time: 00:10:00, Subtract overlap time spent on other operations while waiting for coolant purge run

Inspect coolant level and top off as necessary
NoteEnsure that fluid level is at Max line, Vacuum fill required if greater than 1L lost during repair

Install coolant bottle cap

Install air intake duct
Note2x clips, 1x align pin, 1x bolt, 10mm, 4 Nm, Position clips onto bulkhead studs then duct secure onto thermal bar

Install HEPA filter assembly
Note2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, Pivot forward edge down past frunk assembly, Then carefully move rear edge past brake reservoir and into position, Gently press on RH side of filter to seat seal onto duct, Do not pinch washer hose in between HEPA filter assembly and body

Install rear apron
Note16x trim clips, 3x locator pins, 2x clips, Replace any missing or damaged clips, Ensure pyrotechnic hood actuators are aligned with openings in apron

Close hood

Raise LH front window
-
Close LH front door
-
Remove vehicle from lift
NoteLower rack arms fully and remove from under vehicle
