Note
The LV battery won't recover unless the HV system is healthy and supporting the vehicle. Make sure that the HV system is functioning correctly before attempting to recover the LV battery.
  1. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  2. Make sure that no external power source is connected to the jump post.
  3. Make sure that the high voltage system is supporting the low voltage system. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Low Voltage > Power Distribution and make sure that the PCS DCDC Support Status indicates Active.
  4. Make sure that the LV battery is properly connected. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Low Voltage > Power Distribution and make sure that the Li-ion LV Battery ECPA (Electrical Connector Position Assurance) status indicates Closed.
  5. Confirm that the Li-ion LV battery MOSFET status is Closed. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Low Voltage > Power Distribution and make sure that the Li-ion LV Battery MOSFET status indicates Closed (Green).
Figure 1. Li-ion LV Battery MOSFET status Closed
  6. If the MOSFET status is Open (Orange), the LV battery has not auto-recovered. To force the MOSFET to close, Perform the following routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes):PROC_VCFRONT_X_RECONNECT-LV-BATTERYvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode: Low Voltage ➜ Power Distribution ➜ Close MOSFET
Figure 2. Li-ion LV Battery MOSFET status Open
  7. If the previous step does not successfully recover the battery, proceed with using the Tesla LV Li-ion battery charger to recover the LV battery, and then repeat this procedure.
  8. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
