Harness - Body - RH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Open all doors and lower all windows.
  2. Open the hood.
  3. Open the liftgate.
  4. Enable the EPB Service Mode.
    1. Place the vehicle in Service Mode by using the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
    2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
    3. While holding the brake pedal, tap the Service Mode "wrench" at the bottom of the touchscreen UI, and then tap Chassis > Brakes > EPB Service Mode, select Both in the EPB Selection dropping list, and select Start in the Action Selection dropping list. Click Run, and allow the routine to complete.

    Note
    The EPB Selection field can also be selected as Left/Right as needed.
  5. Set wheel chocks.
  6. Remove the RH front seat. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the RH 2nd row seat. See Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the RH trunk side trim assembly. See Trunk Side Trim - LH (Model Y L) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the RH 3rd row B section duct. See Duct - B Section - 3rd Row - Upper - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the RH front cabin carpet. See Cabin Carpet - Front - RH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the RH B-pillar B section duct. See Duct - B Section - B-Pillar - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the LH and RH sun visors. See Sun Visor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Release the clips (x5) and location pin that attach the front end of the headliner to the vehicle.

    Note
    • Take care not to bend the headliner.
    • Replace any damaged clips.
  15. Release the locking tab, then disconnect the connector from the interior endpoint.
  16. Release the clips (x5) that attach the RH body harness to the front headliner area.
  17. Release the clips (x4) that attach the front windshield harness to the A-pillar area.
  18. Release the clips (x3) that attach the RH body harness to the A-pillar area.
  19. Remove the RH B-pillar applique. See B-Pillar Applique - LH (Remove and Install).
  20. Remove the RH air wave duct. See Instrument Panel - Air Wave Duct - RH (Remove and Install).
  21. Pull out the RH body harness from the RH instrument panel.
  22. Disconnect the RH body harness connectors (x6) on both LH and RH sides of the car computer.

    Note
    Release the locks on connectors before removal.
  23. Release the harness clip from the LH lower corner of the car computer.
  24. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the RH cowl panel.
  25. Remove the bolt that attaches the front main harness ground to the RH A-pillar.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
  26. Disconnect the front main harness connector from the RH body harness.
  27. Disconnect the J2, J4, J5, and J12 connectors from the RH vehicle controller.
  28. Disconnect the windshield harness connectors (x3) from the harness guide in the RH lower A-pillar area.
  29. Disconnect the front main harness DCDC power cable, then release the clip and hook that attach the front main harness DCDC power cable to the vehicle.
  30. Release the clips (x3) that attach the RH body harness guide to the RH lower A-pillar area.
  31. Release the clips (x3) and location pin that attach the RH body harness to the RH front sill area.
  32. Disconnect the LH body harness connectors (x2) from below the RH front seat.
  33. Release the clip and tabs (x2) that attach the RH body harness bracket under the RH front seat.
  34. Remove the RH B-pillar duct A section. See Duct - A Section - B-Pillar - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  35. Release the clips (x6) that attach the RH body harness below the RH B-pillar area.
  36. Release the clips (x3) that attach the RH body harness to the RH B-pillar area, then pull the harness into the cabin.
  37. Lift the orange locking tabs (x2) to release and disconnect the RH front retractor connectors (x2).
  38. Pull the red tab to disengage the lock on the RH B-pillar accelerometer sensor connector, then pull it again to release the connector.

    Note
    Do not push down on the red tab.
  39. Pry at both the top and bottom of the grommet to release the grommet connector, while pulling it away from the B-pillar to remove the RH rear door harness.
  40. Release the clips (x3) from the outer B-pillar, then remove the RH rear door harness connector from the B-pillar area.
  41. Remove the bolt that attaches the RH body harness ground strap to the RH rear sill area.

  42. Install an inflatable airbag to support the RH rear cabin carpet.
  43. Release the clip that attaches the 2nd row RH seat harness to the ancillary bay.

    Note
    Make sure to thread the harness of the 2nd row seats through the carpet.
  44. Disconnect the HVC logic connector by releasing the locking tab and pushing the handle downward, then install the logic cap.
  45. Release the positive LV output cover from the PCS cable.
  46. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the PCS cable to the LV passthrough output.

  47. Release the clip that attaches the RH body harness to the RH rear body.
  48. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the rear body and move the harness aside.
  49. Partially release the clips (x2) that attach the RH rear quarter panel NVH to the body.
  50. Lift the orange locking tab to release and disconnect the RH 2nd row retractor connector.
  51. Remove the rear headliner. See Rear Headliner (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  52. Remove the TCU. See Antennas and Amplifiers - TLA, Telematics Control Unit (TCU) (Remove and Install).
  53. Remove the RH C-pillar airbag ramp. See Ramp - Airbag - C-Pillar - LH (6-Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  54. Disconnect the liftgate harness connectors (x3) from the RH body harness.
  55. Disconnect the RH power strut connector.
  56. Lift the white locking tabs (x2) to release and disconnect the RH curtain air bag connector.
  57. Disconnect the RH rear harness connector from the headliner.
  58. Release the RH body harness clips (x11) around the RH C-pillar area.
  59. Release the clips (x6) that attach the RH body harness to the RH rear head area.
  60. Disconnect the subwoofer connector.
  61. Disconnect the audio amplifier connectors (x4).
  62. Remove the bolt that attaches the RH body harness ground strap to the RH trunk area.

  63. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the RH trunk area.
  64. Remove wheel chocks, push the vehicle onto the lift, and place wheel chocks once the vehicle is in the correct position.

    Note
    Recommend assistance. Push the vehicle a short distance at a very slow speed, close all doors as needed to fit between the lift, and latch rear doors to prevent accidental closure.
  65. Release the rear fascia and diffuser assembly. See Assembly - Fascia and Diffuser - Rear (Remove and Install).
  66. Disconnect the rear subframe harness connector and RH rear EPB connector.
  67. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the RH RUB area.
  68. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the rear fascia area.
  69. Push the RH body harness through the grommet in the RH wheelhouse outer assembly, and remove it from the vehicle.

Replace

  1. Position the RH body harness onto the vehicle, route it through the grommet and push it through the RH wheelhouse outer assembly.

    Note
    Make sure that the grommet is installed in proper orientation.
  2. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the rear fascia area.
  3. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the RH RUB area.
  4. Connect the rear subframe harness connector and RH rear EPB connector.
  5. Secure the rear fascia and diffuser assembly. See Assembly - Fascia and Diffuser - Rear (Remove and Install).
  6. Remove wheel chocks, push the vehicle away from the lift, then place wheel chocks once the vehicle is in the correct position.

    Note
    Recommend assistance. Push the vehicle a short distance at a very slow speed, close all doors as needed to fit between the lift.
  7. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the RH trunk area.
  8. Install the bolt that attaches the RH body harness ground strap to the RH trunk area.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  9. Connect the audio amplifier connectors (x4).
  10. Connect the subwoofer connector.
  11. Secure the clips (x6) that attach the RH body harness to the RH rear head area.
  12. Secure the RH body harness clips (x11) around the RH C-pillar area.
  13. Connect the RH rear harness connector to the headliner.
  14. Press the RH curtain air bag connector into place until an audible click is heard.
  15. Connect the RH power strut connector.
  16. Connect the liftgate harness connectors (x3) to the RH body harness.
  17. Install the RH C-pillar airbag ramp. See Ramp - Airbag - C-Pillar - LH (6-Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the TCU. See Antennas and Amplifiers - TLA, Telematics Control Unit (TCU) (Remove and Install).
  19. Install the rear headliner. See Rear Headliner (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  20. Connect the RH 2nd row retractor connector into place until an audible click is heard.
  21. Partially secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH rear quarter panel NVH to the body.
  22. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the rear body.
  23. Secure the clip that attaches the RH body harness to the RH rear body.
  24. Install a new nut that attaches the PCS cable to the LV passthrough output.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)

  25. Install the positive LV output cover to the PCS cable.
  26. Remove the logic cap, align the HVC logic connector and pull the handle to the locking position to ensure the connector is fully seated.
  27. Install the clip that attaches the 2nd row RH seat harness to the ancillary bay.

    Make sure to thread the harness of the 2nd row seats through the carpet.
  28. Remove the inflatable airbag from the RH rear cabin carpet.
  29. Install the bolt that attaches the RH body harness ground strap to the RH rear sill area.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  30. Secure the clips (x3) to install the RH rear door harness connector to the B-pillar area.
  31. Install the grommet connector and RH rear door harness to the B-pillar.
    1. Before installation, verify the seal is fully seated around the white clip.
    2. Press the RH rear door harness into the RH rear door harness connector; hold the harness connector in place until an audible click is heard.
    3. After installation, gently pull the harness connector to confirm it is secure and ensure the door harness grommet is properly seated to the B-pillar.
  32. Connect the RH B-pillar accelerometer sensor connector.

    Do not push down on the red tab.
  33. Connect the RH front retractor connectors (x2) into place until an audible click is heard.
  34. Secure the clips (x3) that attach the RH body harness to the RH B-pillar area.
  35. Secure the clips (x6) that attach the RH body harness below the RH B-pillar area.
  36. Install the RH B-pillar duct A section. See Duct - A Section - B-Pillar - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  37. Secure the clip and tabs (x2) that attach the RH body harness bracket under the RH front seat.
  38. Connect the LH body harness connectors (x2) to below the RH front seat.
  39. Secure the clips (x3) and location pin that attach the RH body harness to the RH front sill area.
  40. Secure the clips (x3) that attach the RH body harness guide to the RH lower A-pillar area.
  41. Secure the clip and hook that attach the front main harness DCDC power cable to the RH harness bracket, then connect the front main harness DCDC power cable connector to the RH body harness.
  42. Connect the windshield harness connectors (x3) to the harness guide in the RH lower A-pillar area.
  43. Connect the J2, J4, J5, and J12 connectors to the RH vehicle controller.
  44. Connect the front main harness connector to the RH body harness.
  45. Install the bolt that attaches the front main harness ground to the RH A-pillar.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

  46. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH body harness to the RH cowl panel.
  47. Secure the harness clip to the LH lower corner of the car computer.
  48. Connect the RH body harness connectors (x6) on both LH and RH sides of the car computer.
  49. Thread the RH body harness through the RH instrument panel, ensuring it is routed between the IP and vehicle body.
  50. Install the RH air wave duct. See Instrument Panel - Air Wave Duct - RH (Remove and Install).
  51. Install the RH B-pillar applique. See B-Pillar Applique - LH (Remove and Install).
  52. Secure the clips (x3) that attach the RH body harness to the A-pillar area.
  53. Secure the clips (x4) that attach the front windshield harness to the A-pillar area.
  54. Secure the clips (x5) that attach the RH body harness to the front headliner area.
  55. Connect the connector to the interior endpoint.
  56. Align the location pin and secure the clips (x5) that attach the front end of the headliner to the vehicle, then pull the seal over the headliner.
  57. Install the LH and RH sun visors. See Sun Visor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  58. Install the LH and RH upper A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  59. Install the RH B-pillar B section duct. See Duct - B Section - B-Pillar - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  60. Install the RH front cabin carpet. See Cabin Carpet - Front - RH (Remove and Replace).
  61. Install the RH 3rd row B section duct. See Duct - B Section - 3rd Row - Upper - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
  62. Install the RH trunk side trim assembly. See Trunk Side Trim - LH (Model Y L) (Remove and Replace).
  63. Install the RH 2nd row seat. See Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Install).
  64. Install the RH front seat. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
  65. Exit the EPB Service Mode.
    1. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
    2. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" at the bottom of the touchscreen UI, and then tap Chassis > Brakes > EPB Service Mode, select Both in the EPB Selection dropping list, and select Stop in the Action Selection dropping list. Click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    3. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
