Caliper - Front Brake - LH (Dual Motor) (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Put the vehicle on a 2-post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2-Post Lift.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the window.
  3. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  5. Position an oil drain under the LH front brake caliper area.
  6. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front brake hose bracket to the knuckle.

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  7. Remove the nut that attaches the LH front brake line to the LH front brake hose.

    Catch any fluid lost into the waste container.

    • 12 mm 12 pt combination wrench
  8. Remove the nut that attaches the LH front brake hose to the vehicle.

    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  9. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front brake caliper to the knuckle.

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • External Torx E18
    • Breaker bar
    • 3/8 in to ½ in adapter
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  10. Remove the brake caliper from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install new bolts (x2) that attach the LH front brake caliper to the knuckle.
    94 Nm (69.3 lbs-ft)

    • External Torx E18
    • Breaker bar
    • 3/8 in to ½ in adapter
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  2. Install the nut that attaches the LH front brake hose to the vehicle.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  3. Install the nut that attaches the LH front brake line to the LH front brake hose.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    • 12 mm 12 pt combination wrench
  4. Install the bolt that attaches the LH front brake hose bracket to the knuckle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    • Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Remove the oil drain from underneath the LH front brake caliper.
  6. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height and set the lift onto locks.
  7. Enable Service Mode Plus. See Service Mode Plus.
  8. Bleed the LH front brake. See Brake Fluid Bleed - One Caliper (Remove and Replace).
  9. Perform a corner stiffness test: on the touchscreen, tap Service Mode > Chassis > Procedures > DPB Post Replacement > Corner Stiffness Test, tap Run and allow the routine to complete.
  10. Exit Service Mode.
  11. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  12. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  13. Perform a test drive and make sure that proper brake pedal feel and brake performance is achieved.
