CAUTION
Brake fluid dissolves paint. Have clean towels and plenty of water standing by to wash
spilled brake fluid off painted
surfaces.
Note
Dispose of used brake fluid in a manner consistent with local environmental codes.
Note
The brake hose is not reusable.
If the hose is removed for any reason, it must be replaced with a new
one.

Remove

Place the vehicle on the 2-post
lift.
TIpEnsure the vehicle is not charging.
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Place the vehicle in Service Mode by using the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
- Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Position the oil drain under the LH front brake caliper area.

Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front brake hose bracket to the knuckle.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 4 in extension
- 10 mm socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the LH front brake hose to the LH front
brake caliper.
NoteDiscard the bolt and the copper washers (x2) as part of the hose assembly.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- 11 mm deep socket

Remove the nut that attaches the LH front brake line to the LH front brake
hose.
NoteCatch any fluid lost into the waste container.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm 12 pt combination wrench

Remove the nut that attaches the LH front brake hose to the vehicle, and then remove
the LH front brake hose from the vehicle.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 4 in extension
- 10 mm deep socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench
Install

Install the nut that attaches the LH
front brake hose to the vehicle.
6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 4 in extension
- 10 mm deep socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench

Hand-tighten the nut that attaches the
LH front brake line to the LH front brake hose, and then torque it.
16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 12 mm 12 pt combination wrench

Install new copper washers (x2) and a
new bolt to attach the LH front brake hose to the LH front brake caliper.
42 Nm (31.0 lbs-ft)NoteThe bolt and washers are included in the brake hose assembly.NoteMake sure the brake hose is not twisted.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
- 11 mm deep socket
- Remove the oil drain from underneath the LH front brake caliper.

Install the bolt that attaches the LH
front brake hose bracket to the knuckle.
5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Cordless Ratchet/Impact Driver
- 4 in extension
- 10 mm socket
- Ratchet/torque wrench
- Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height and set the lift onto locks.
- Perform a brake fluid flush on the LH front brake. See Brake Fluid Bleed - One Caliper (Remove and Replace).
