The brake hose is not reusable. If the hose is removed for any reason, it must be replaced with a new one.

Reuse

Remove

  1. Place the vehicle on the 2-post lift.

    Ensure the vehicle is not charging.
  2. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  3. Place the vehicle in Service Mode by using the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
  4. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  5. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Position the oil drain under the LH front brake caliper area.
  8. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front brake hose bracket to the knuckle.

    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  9. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the LH front brake hose to the LH front brake caliper.

    Discard the copper washers (x2) as well.

  10. Remove the nut that attaches the LH front brake line to the LH front brake hose.

  11. Remove the nut that attaches the LH front brake hose to the vehicle, and then remove the LH front brake hose from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install the nut that attaches the LH front brake hose to the vehicle.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  2. Hand-tighten the nut that attaches the LH front brake line to the LH front brake hose, and then torque it.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

  3. Install new copper washers (x2) and a new bolt (2288725-00-A) to attach the LH front brake hose to the LH front brake caliper.
    42 Nm (31.0 lbs-ft)

    Make sure the brake hose is not twisted.

  4. Remove the oil drain from underneath the LH front brake caliper.
  5. Install the bolt that attaches the LH front brake hose bracket to the knuckle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  6. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height and set the lift onto locks.
  7. Perform a brake fluid flush on the LH front brake. See Brake Fluid Bleed - One Caliper (Remove and Replace).
