SIM Card - Telematics Control Unit (TCU) (Remove and Replace)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the rear headliner trim. See REAR HEADLINER (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the TCU to the body, and then remove the TCU from the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Do not pull the TCU too far from the vehicle, as the TCU is still attached by 2 electrical connectors.

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm deep socket
  3. Slide the retaining tab of the telematics control unit (TCU) SIM card to the left, and then remove the SIM card.
  4. Destroy the SIM card by cutting the card in half through the center, and then cut each piece into half, resulting in 4 pieces.

    CAUTION
    It is mandatory to destroy the SIM card to protect user data.

Install

  1. Install the new SIM card into the telematics control unit (TCU) slot with the gold pads facing downward.

    Warning
    Make sure that the SIM card goes into the slot, before releasing your grip of the SIM card.

    Note
    Once the SIM card is fully pressed into the slot, the retaining tab will automatically return to its original position.
  2. Position the TCU to the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the TCU to the body.
    14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)

    • 13 mm deep socket
  3. Install the rear headliner trim. See REAR HEADLINER (Remove and Replace).
  4. Enter the Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  5. On the touchscreen, touch Infotainment > Connectivity and confirm the connection in cellular panel is normal, and then disable WiFi and confirm web browser pages are normally loaded.
  6. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  7. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
