Hush Panel - Footwell - Driver (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Move the LH front seat backward.
  3. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  4. Release the datums (x2) and magnets (x2) that attach the LH cabin carpet cover to the driver footwell hush panel.
  5. If the vehicle is equipped with a driver knee airbag, continue to the next step. If the vehicle is not equipped with a driver knee airbag, skip to step 9.
  6. Remove the LH knee airbag bolt covers.
  7. Remove and discard the bolts (x4) that attach the LH knee airbag to the instrument panel.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E10
  8. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the knee airbag, and then remove the airbag and hush panel assembly from the vehicle.

    Peel the back the plastic film.

    Note
    The remaining steps in Removal are for vehicles that are not equipped with a driver knee airbag.
  9. Release the tabs (x8) and location pins (x2) that attach the driver footwell hush panel to the vehicle.

    Note
    Do not pull the panel too far from the vehicle, as the panel is still attached by an electrical connector.
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the driver footwell hush panel, and then remove the footwell hush panel from the vehicle.

Install

  1. If the vehicle is equipped with a driver knee airbag, continue to the next step. If the vehicle is not equipped with a driver knee airbag, skip to step 5
  2. Connect the wiring harness connector to the knee airbag, and then install the knee airbag to the vehicle.

    Note
    Place the plastic film back over the squib assembly.
  3. Install new bolts (x4) that attach the LH knee airbag to the instrument panel.
    8.5 Nm (6.3 lbs-ft)

  4. Install the knee airbag bolt covers, and then skip to step 7.
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the driver footwell hush panel.
  6. Install the tabs (x8) and location pins (x2) that attach the driver footwell hush panel to the vehicle.
  7. Install the datums (x2) and magnets (x2) that attach the LH cabin carpet cover to the driver footwell hush panel.
  8. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  9. Move the LH front seat back to its original position.
  10. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
