Instrument Panel - Cross Car Beam - RHD (Remove and Replace)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the wiper module. See Wiper Module (RHD) (Remove & Replace).
  2. Remove the air intake duct. See Duct - Air Intake (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the center console. See Center Console (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the RH instrument panel air wave duct. See Instrument Panel - RHD - Air Wave Duct - Right (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the cowl top foam. See Instrument Panel - Cowl Top Foam (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the harness clip from the instrument panel area near the RH controller.
  7. Disconnect the instrument panel harness connector from the electronic steering column.
  8. Release the instrument panel to steering column harness connector from the cross car beam.
  9. Remove the HVAC harness clips (x2) from the instrument mount bracket.
  10. Remove the SCCM harness clip from the cross car beam.
  11. Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the cross car beam, and move the steering column as needed.

    • 13 mm deep socket
  12. Remove the headliner harness clips (x2) on the RH lower A-pillar.
  13. Release the instrument panel harness clips (x9) from the upper cross car beam.
  14. Release the instrument panel harness clips (x4) from the lower cross car beam.
  15. Remove the RH instrument panel harness connector clip from the cross car beam.
  16. Remove the LH instrument panel harness clips (x3) from the cross car beam.
  17. Release the headliner harness clips (x3) from the LH lower A-pillar area.
  18. Remove the LH instrument panel riser bracket. See Instrument Panel Riser - LH (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the RH instrument panel riser bracket. See Instrument Panel Riser - RH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the LH and RH display support brackets. See Support Bracket - Display - LH (Remove and Replace).
  21. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.

  22. Remove the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.

  23. Loosen the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the upper cowl.

    • 3/8in Dr. Open Crowfoot Socket x 13mm
  24. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH and RH cross car beam to the A-pillar.

  25. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the cross car beam to the body.

  26. With assistance, remove the cross car beam from the vehicle.

    Note
    Pay attention to the datums (x5).

Install

  1. With assistance, align the datums (x5) on the beam with the slots on the body and install the cross car beam to the vehicle.

    Note
    Be careful to route the instrument panel harness properly. Make sure the harness is not squeezed.
  2. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the cross car beam to the body.
    25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)

  3. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the LH and RH cross car beam to the A-pillar.
    29 Nm (21.4 lbs-ft)

  4. Install the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.
    5.5 Nm (4.1 lbs-ft)

  5. Torque the bolt that attaches the cross car beam to the upper cowl.
    25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)

  6. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the cross car beam to the HVAC assembly.

  7. Install the RH instrument panel riser bracket. See Instrument Panel Riser - RH (Remove and Replace).

  9. Install the LH and RH display support brackets. See Support Bracket - Display - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the headliner harness clips (x3) to the LH lower A-pillar area.
  11. Install the LH instrument panel harness clips (x3) to the cross car beam.
  12. Install the RH instrument panel harness connector clip to the cross car beam.
  13. Install the instrument panel harness clips (x4) to the lower cross car beam.
  14. Install the instrument panel harness clips (x9) to the upper cross car beam.
  15. Install the headliner harness clips (x2) to the LH lower A-pillar.
  16. Install the nuts (x4) that attach the steering column to the cross car beam.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

  17. Install the SCCM harness clip to the cross car beam.
  18. Install the HVAC harness clips (x2) to the instrument mount bracket.
  19. Install the instrument panel steering column harness connector to the cross car beam.
  20. Connect the instrument panel harness connector to the electronic steering column.
  21. Install the harness clip to the instrument panel near the RH controller.
  22. Install the cowl top foam. See Instrument Panel - Cowl Top Foam (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the RH instrument panel air wave duct. See Instrument Panel - RHD - Air Wave Duct - Right (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the center console. See Center Console (Remove and Install).
  25. Install the air intake duct. See Duct - Air Intake (Remove and Replace).
  26. Install the wiper module. See Wiper Module (RHD) (Remove & Replace).
