Homelink Module (Model Y Standard) (Retrofit)

Torque Specifications

Retrofit

  1. Remove the HEPA filter or cowl assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace) or Cowl Assembly (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Disconnect the LV battery. See LV Power (Modify).
  3. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the washer reservoir to the front end carrier, and then move the reservoir aside.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • SOCKET, 1/4" DR., DEEP, MAGNETIC, 10MM
  4. Partially release the LH side of the front fascia. See Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  5. Use an inflatable air bag between the fascia and the front end module to access the location for the HomeLink Transmitter.
  6. Release the clip that attaches the homelink branch to the front body harness.

    Note
    • The homelink branch will be secured with the electrical tape along the LH crush can.
    • Some vehicles have the clip attached to the body.
  7. Remove the connector cap from the homelink connector.

    CAUTION
    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  8. Route the homelink branch through the body to the front end carrier mount.
  9. Install the homelink module to the bracket.
  10. Position the homelink assembly onto the front end carrier mount.
  11. Install the bolt that attaches the homelink assembly to the front end carrier.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    • External Torx Plus EP10

    Note
    Hand start the bolt by reaching around the carrier.
  12. Connect the homelink module connector.
  13. Connect the LV battery. See LV Power (Modify).
  14. Use the touchscreen to enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  15. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock)
  16. In the Service Mode touchscreen menu, touch the LV battery icon and select HomeLink.
  17. Touch the HomeLink Retrofit button, and then touch Run and allow the routine to complete.
  18. Wait for the touchscreen to reboot, and then touch the controls icon to confirm the HomeLink icon appears on the touchscreen

    Note
    If the HomeLink icon does not appear, exit and lock the vehicle to initiate a reboot.
  19. In the Service Mode touchscreen menu, touch the LV battery icon and select HomeLink.
  20. Touch the Test HomeLink button, and then touch Run and allow the routine to complete.
  21. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  22. Secure the LH side of the front fascia. See Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  23. Position the washer reservoir to the front end carrier, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the washer reservoir to the front end carrier.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

  24. Install the HEPA filter or cowl assembly. See HEPA Filter Assembly (Remove and Replace) or Cowl Assembly (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Replace).
