Service Kit - Check Valves - Supermanifold (Remove and Replace)

Note
This procedure requires the A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) procedure to be performed. If not already automatically added to the Service Visit, add correction code 18200102 as a separate correction within the same activity to the Service Visit.

Remove

  1. Set up the A/C machine.
  2. Remove the front aero shield. See Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  3. Put a fluid catcher underneath the front of the vehicle.
  4. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  5. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  6. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Thermal > Refrigerant System > Start Thermal Fill Drain. and then fill in the Parameters fields: "1" for Coolant fill, and "1" for Refrigerant fill. Tap Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  7. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See HEPA And Carbon Filters (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  9. Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Restore).

    Make sure there is no overpressure in the A/C system before performing the following steps. Failure to do so may result in damage to components and/or personal injury.

    Warning
    HFO-R1234yf and R134a are considered hazardous and, if handled incorrectly, can cause serious injury. Suitable personal protective equipment, consisting of face and eye protection, safety glasses, face shield, heat-proof gloves, chemical resistant gloves, rubber boots and apron or waterproof overall must be worn when carrying out operations on the air conditioning system.
  10. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  11. Remove the LV battery. See LV Battery (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the fresh air intake duct. See Duct - Air Intake (Remove and Replace) or Air Intake Duct (Model Y Standard) (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the coolant bottle.
  14. Remove the supermanifold to compressor A/C line. See AC Line - Supermanifold to Compressor (Remove and Replace).
  15. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the high pressure and temperature sensor.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  16. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the recirculation EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  17. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the liquid cooled condenser EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  18. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  19. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the right side cabin condenser EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  20. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the high pressure and temperature subcool EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  21. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the left side cabin condenser EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  22. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the chiller EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  23. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the evap EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling the main body of the connector to fully disconnect it.
  24. Move thermal harness from supermanifold to side.
  25. Remove and discard the liquid cooled condenser check valve snap ring from the supermanifold.

  26. Remove the liquid cooled condenser check valve from the supermanifold.

    If the check valve separates from the aluminum cap during removal, do not use metal tools. Metal tools may scrape the supermanifold housing causing internal damage. Use fingers or wrap electrical tape around a 90 degree pick.
  27. Remove and discard the evaporator check valve snap ring from the supermanifold.

  28. Remove the evaporator check valve from the supermanifold.

    If the check valve separates from the aluminum cap during removal, do not use metal tools. Metal tools may scrape the supermanifold housing causing internal damage. Use fingers or wrap electrical tape around a 90 degree pick instead.
  29. Remove and discard the cabin condenser check valve snap ring from the supermanifold.

  30. Remove the cabin condenser check valve from the supermanifold.

    If the check valve separates from the aluminum cap during removal, DO NOT use metal tools. Metal tools may scrape the supermanifold housing causing internal damage. Use fingers or wrap electrical tape around a 90 degree pick instead.

Install

  1. Use the appropriate oil to lubricate the O-rings on the cabin condenser check valve. See Fluids and Capacities for A/C oil specifications. Then install the cabin condenser check valve into the supermanifold.
  2. Install a new cabin condenser check valve snap ring into the supermanifold.

    Note
    Verify the snap ring is properly seated inside the groove on the supermanifold.
  3. Lubricate O-rings on the evaporator check valve with the appropriate A/C oil. See for A/C oil specifications. Then install the check valve into the supermanifold.
  4. Install a new evaporator check valve snap ring onto the supermanifold.

  5. Lubricate O-rings on the liquid cooled condenser check valve with the appropriate A/C oil. See for A/C oil specifications. Then install the check valve into the supermanifold.

  6. Install a new liquid cooled condenser check valve snap ring onto the supermanifold.

  7. Route thermal harness back to supermanifold.
  8. Connect the electrical connector of the evap EXV.

    Push the red locking tab towards the connector to engage the locking mechanism. DO NOT push down or pull up on the red locking tab.
  9. Connect the electrical connector of the chiller EXV.

  10. Connect the electrical connector of the left side cabin condenser EXV.

  11. Connect the electrical connector of the high pressure and temperature subcool EXV.

  12. Connect the electrical connector on the right side cabin condenser EXV.

  13. Connect the electrical connector on the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve.

  14. Connect the electrical connector on the liquid cooled condenser EXV.

  15. Connect the electrical connector on the recirc EXV.

  16. Connect the electrical connector on the high pressure and temperature sensor.

  17. Install the supermanifold to compressor A/C line. See AC Line - Supermanifold to Compressor (Remove and Replace).

    Before installation, install new seal washers on the supermanifold to compressor A/C line.
  18. Install the coolant bottle.
  19. Perform the cooling system vacuum refill procedure. See Cooling System - Vacuum Refill (Test/Adjust).
  20. Start the vacuum leak test and refrigerant recharge procedure. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Restore).
  21. Install the LV battery. See LV Battery (Remove and Install).
  22. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
  23. Install the front aero shield panel. See Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  25. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  26. Perform the following routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes): PROC_VCFRONT_X_STOP-THERMAL-FILL-DRAINvia Service Mode:
    • Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Stop Thermal Fill/Drain
    • Thermal ➜ Coolant System ➜ Stop Coolant Fill/Drain
