SERVICE KIT - SUPERMANIFOLD CHECK VALVE - HEAT PUMP (Remove and Install)

Note
This procedure requires the A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) procedure to be performed. If not already automatically added to the Service Visit, add correction code 18200102 as a separate activity to the Service Visit.

Remove

  1. Set up the AC machine.
  2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  3. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Thermal > Refrigerant System > Start Thermal Fill Drain (Refrigerant only) > Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  4. Remove the HEPA filter assembly. See SERVICE KIT - HEPA AND CARBON FILTERS (Remove and Replace).
  5. Disconnect the LV battery. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  7. Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Maintenance).

    Make sure there is no pressure in the A/C system before performing the following steps. Failure to do so may result in damage to components and/or personal injury.

    Warning
    HFO-R1234yf and R134a are considered hazardous and, if handled incorrectly, can cause serious injury. Suitable personal protective equipment, consisting of face and eye protection, safety glasses, face shield, heat-proof gloves, chemical resistant gloves, rubber boots and apron or waterproof overall must be worn when carrying out operations on the air conditioning system.
  8. Remove the bolt that attaches the supermanifold-to-compressor A/C line to the supermanifold.

    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  9. Remove the supermanifold-to-compressor A/C line from the supermanifold, and move it aside.

    Carefully position the line so that oil does not drip out.
  10. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the high pressure and temperature sensor.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  11. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the recirc EXV (expansion valve).

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  12. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the liquid cooled condenser EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  13. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  14. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the right side cabin condenser EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  15. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the high pressure and temperature subcool EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  16. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the left side cabin condenser EXV.

    CAUTION
    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  17. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the chiller EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  18. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the evap EXV.

    DO NOT push down on the red locking tab. Pull the tab away from the connector until the connector is unlocked, and then continue pulling to release the connector.
  19. Move thermal harness from supermanifold to side.
  20. Remove and discard the cabin condenser check valve snap ring from the supermanifold.

    Please ensure to wear the Face Shield throughout the entire process to prevent foreign objects from flying out.
  21. Remove the cabin condenser check valve from the supermanifold.

    CAUTION
    If the check valve separates from the aluminum cap during removal, DO NOT use metal tools. Metal tools may scrape the supermanifold housing causing internal damage. Use fingers or wrap electrical tape around a 90 degree pick instead.

Install

  1. Use the appropriate oil to lubricate the O-rings on the check valve cabin condenser. See Fluids and Capacities for A/C oil specifications. Then install the check valve cabin condenser into the supermanifold.
  2. Install a new cabin condenser check valve snap ring into the supermanifold.

    Note
    Verify the snap ring is properly seated inside the groove on the supermanifold.
  3. Route thermal harness back to supermanifold.
  4. Connect the electrical connector of the evap EXV.

    Push the red locking tab towards the connector to engage the locking mechanism. DO NOT push down or pull up on the red locking tab.
  5. Connect the electrical connector of the chiller EXV.

    Push the red locking tab towards the connector to engage the locking mechanism. DO NOT push down or pull up on the red locking tab.
  6. Connect the electrical connector of the left side cabin condenser EXV.

  7. Connect the electrical connector of the high pressure and temperature subcool EXV.

  8. Connect the electrical connector on the right side cabin condenser EXV.

  9. Connect the electrical connector on the liquid cooled condenser shut off valve.

  10. Connect the electrical connector on the liquid cooled condenser EXV.

  11. Connect the electrical connector on the recirc EXV.

  12. Connect the electrical connector on the high pressure and temperature sensor.

    Push the red locking tab towards the connector to engage the locking mechanism. DO NOT push down or pull up on the red locking tab.
  13. Install new seal washers on the supermanifold side of the supermanifold-to-compressor A/C line, and then lubricate the washers with a small amount of the appropriate A/C oil. See Fluids and Capacities for A/C oil specifications.
  14. Position the supermanifold to compressor A/C line onto the supermanifold, and then hand-tighten the bolt that attaches the A/C line to the supermanifold.
  15. Tighten the bolt that attaches the supermanifold to compressor A/C line to the supermanifold.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)

  16. Perform the vacuum leak test and oil injection, and A/C refrigerant recharge. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge) (Maintenance).
  17. Connect the LV battery. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  18. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  19. On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" (at the bottom of the touchscreen UI), and then tap Thermal > Sensors and Valves > Run Heat Pump Commissioning > Run, and close once the routine is passed.
  20. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  21. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the HEPA filter assembly. See SERVICE KIT - HEPA AND CARBON FILTERS (Remove and Replace).
