Bump Stop and Latch - Hood (Adjust)

Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Rotate the LH and/or RH bump stop to adjust the height of the front end of the hood.
    • Rotate the bump stops counterclockwise to raise the front end of the hood.
    • Rotate the bump stops clockwise to lower the front end of the hood.
  3. Close the hood and inspect the hood to fender flushness.
  4. Repeat steps 1 throug 3 if necessary.
  5. If the hood opens and closes as expected after alignment, discontinue this procedure. If excessive force is required to close the hood or if the double latch does not engage easily, proceed with the next steps to adjust the hood latch.
  6. Remove the access panel. See ACCESS PANEL (Remove and Replace).
  7. Loosen the bolts (x2) that attach the hood latch to the front end carrier.

    Do not remove the bolts. Only loosen the bolts.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  8. Move the hood latch upwards a few millimeters.
  9. Fasten the bolts (x2) that attach the hood latch to the front end carrier.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm socket
  10. Close the hood and verify that it latches and unlatches as intended. Open the hood and repeat step 7 through 9, if necessary.
  11. Install the access panel. See ACCESS PANEL (Remove and Replace).
