Procedure
- Place the vehicle on the 2-post lift.
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
-
Disconnect the front fascia camera
washer hose, and then release the clip that attaches the hose to the vehicle.
-
Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the
washer reservoir to the front end carrier, and then move the reservoir aside.
NoteBe careful not to spill washer fluid from the reservoir.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Release the connector lock, and then
disconnect the active grille shutter actuator electrical connector.
CAUTIONDo not push down on the red tab. Pull the red tab to release the connector lock.
-
Install the waterproof connector plugs (2303607-00-A) to the active grille
shutter electrical connector, hood latch connector and LV battery
connector.
NoteKeep the harness and connectors away from the radiation to avoid water ingress.
-
Release the tabs (x2) and attach the
ambient temperature sensor to the active grille shutter.
-
Carefully remove the ambient
temperature sensor cover from the active grille shutter, and then move the sensor out
through the opening.
-
Release the clips (x8) that attach the
upper and middle of the active grille shutter to the cooling fan module.
-
Remove the front valance. See Valance - Front Fascia (Remove and Replace).
NoteIt is not necessary to remove the pedestrian warning speaker from the valance.
- Place towels to the front of subframe to protect the cooling fan in later steps.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
LH and RH of the cooling fan module to the ankle catcher.
NoteBe careful not to lose the bolt washer.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
Figure 1. LH shown, RH similar -
Release the clips (x) that attach the
lower of the active grille shutter to the cooling fan module.
-
Fully lower the vehicle.
NoteRaise the lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
-
Remove the active grille shutter from
the vehicle.
NoteTake care not to damage the radiator while removing the active grille shutter.
-
Remove the locking tabs (x8) that
attach the stone guard to the radiator.
- Place a fluid catcher underneath the front of the vehicle.
-
Use a vacuum to clean the dirt on the
radiator.
NoteIf necessary, remove any large debris.
-
Use the pressure washer kit
(2325255-00-A) to clean the dirt on the radiator again.
-
Release the upper and lower locking
tabs (x2) that secure the radiator to the cooling and shroud assembly.
-
Use an inflatable airbag to separate
the radiator.
NoteUse an inflatable airbag to raise the edge of the radiator at a specific angle for better cleaning. Be careful not to damage the surface of the radiator and the two holding mounts.
-
Clean the bottom of the cooling
fan.
NoteAvoid moving debris onto the fan.
- Inspect the bottom of the cooling fan for debris.
- Remove the fluid catcher from underneath the front of the vehicle.
-
Remove the inflatable airbag.
-
Install the upper and lower locking
tabs (x2) that secure the radiator to the cooling and shroud assembly.
-
Install the locking tabs (x8) that
attach the stone guard to the radiator.
-
Install the active grille shutter to
the vehicle, and then install the clips (x8) that attach the upper and middle of the
active grille shutter to the cooling fan module.
-
Raise the vehicle to a comfortable
working height, and lower the lift onto locks.
CAUTIONMake sure there is an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise the vehicle may tilt to one side.
-
Install the clips (x6) that attach the
lower of the active grille shutter to the cooling fan module.
-
Loosely install the bolts (x2) that
attach the LH and RH of the cooling fan module to the ankle catcher.

LH and RH of the cooling fan module to the ankle catcher.
6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 8 mm socket
Figure 3. LH shown, RH similar - Remove the towels from the front of subframe.
- Install the front valance. See Valance - Front Fascia (Remove and Replace).
-
Remove the waterproof connector plugs (2303607-00-A) from the connectors
(x3).
NoteBefore removing the plugs, make sure there are no water droplets on the exterior of the plugs and the connectors, to prevent water from entering the interior of the connector during plug removal.
-
Connect the active grille shutter actuator electrical connector, then engage the
connector lock.
-
Feed the ambient temperature sensor
through the opening of the active grille shutter, and then install the tabs (x2) that
attach the sensor to the active grille shutter.
-
Move the washer reservoir back to its
original position, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the washer reservoir to
the front end carrier.
4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket
-
Fasten the clip that attaches the
front camera hose to the washer reservoir, and then connect the front camera washer
hose..
- Connect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect) (Modify).
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox (Connect and Disconnect).
-
In toolbox, click Actions tab, type
