Remove
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Open the tailgate.
- Open the tonneau cover.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
- Disconnect MV power. See Mid-Voltage Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Use a support stand to support the tailgate.
- Remove the LH and RH rear bed closeouts. See Bed Closeout - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).

Release the spring clip on the LH
tailgate strut, and then release the strut from the tailgate.

Release the locking tabs, disconnect
the tailgate harness connectors (x2) from the body harness, and then release the clip
that attaches the harness to the tailgate.

With assistance, remove the LH torsion
rod end bolt from the hinge assembly.
25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)TIpTilt the tailgate to a 45 degree angle.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 13 mm socket

With assistance, remove the RH torsion
rod end fastener from the hinge assembly.
50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)TIpTilt the tailgate to a 45 degree angle.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Torx T45 socket

With assistance, pivot the RH side of
the tailgate away from the vehicle, slide the LH side out of the sleeve, and then remove
the tailgate from the vehicle.
WarningThe panel is heave and sharp. Use appropriate PPE and lifting technique.NotePlace the tailgate on a padded surface.
Install

With assistance, slide the LH side of
the tailgate into the sleeve, and then pivot the RH side into the slot.

With assistance, install the RH
torsion rod end fastener to the hinge assembly.
50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)TIpTilt the tailgate to a 45 degree angle.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Torx T45 socket

With assistance, install the LH
torsion rod end bolt to the hinge assembly.
25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)TIpTilt the tailgate to a 45 degree angle.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 13 mm socket

Install the clip that attaches the
harness to the tailgate, connect the tailgate harness connectors (x2) to the body
harness, and then engage the connector locks.
NoteConnector color may vary depending on vehicle build date.

Install the LH tailgate strut, and
then install the spring clip.
NoteMake sure the strut is fully seated on the ball stud.
- Install the LH and RH rear bed closeouts. See Bed Closeout - Rear - LH (Remove and Install).
- Reconnect MV power. See Mid-Voltage Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Close the tailgate.
- Remove the support stand from underneath the tailgate.
- Close the tonneau cover.
- Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
