NVH Damping and Paint Armor - Dash Absorber - RH (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Move the LH front seat fully rearward.
  3. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  4. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  5. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode > Thermal > Refrigerant System, tap Stop Thermal Fill Drain, and allow the routine to complete.

  6. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Trim - Rear Apron Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Recover the A/C refrigerant. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  9. Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
  10. Move the RH front seat fully rearward.
  11. Remove the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  12. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the RH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
  14. Fold back the RH carpet.
  15. Remove the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  16. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  17. Remove the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
  18. Remove the LH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
  19. Remove the accelerator pedal side trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Pedal - Side Trim (Remove and Install).
  20. Remove the accelerator pedal. See Accelerator Pedal (Remove and Install).
  21. Fold back the LH front cabin carpet.
  22. Remove the center console front panel. See Center Console - Front Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  23. Remove the center floor trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Trim (Remove and Install).
  24. Remove the center floor upper bracket. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Upper Bracket (Remove and Install).
  25. Remove the instrument panel mid panel assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  26. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  27. Remove the instrument panel lower panel assembly. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  28. Remove the glovebox assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  29. Remove the RH panel duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Panel Duct, RH (Remove and Install).
  30. Place absorbent mats under the car computer.

    Ensure coolant will not spill onto electrical components
  31. Disconnect the car computer coolant hoses (x2).

    Release the spring clips to disconnect the hose.

    Disconnect the lower hose first, then the upper hose.

    Tuck the hoses out of the way once plugged.
  32. Slowly loosen the bolt that secures the locking cover to the RH controller, making sure that the cover separates from the controller squarely, and does not bind.

    Do not remove locking cover. Loosen until the bolt spins freely.

    Make sure the bolt and locking cover are fully released before attempting to release the connectors.

    If the cover binds, tighten the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then loosen the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.

  33. Release the Megavac electrical connector housing, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the RH controller.

    Press the tabs on the connector housing to release the housing from the locking frame.
  34. Release the grommet and harness clip that attach the Megavac harness to the bulkhead, and then feed the harness through the bulkhead opening.
  35. Disconnect the electrical connectors (x3) on the interior section of the RH frunk harness, and then release the harness clips (x3) and grommet.

  36. Remove the interior wet side HVAC fasteners (x6).
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

  37. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  38. Perform Vehicle HV Disablement procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
  39. Remove the front aero shield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  40. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the lower valance to the body, and then remove the valance from the vehicle.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)

    Release the covers to expose the bolts.

  41. Disconnect the LH and RH CFM electrical connectors (x2) and release the harness clips.

  42. With assistance, remove the bolts (x2) that attach the fore crossmember to the front subframe, and then remove the crossmember from the subframe.
    90 Nm (66.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Push up on the CFM. Use a hammer, if needed.

    • 18 mm socket
  43. Put a coolant catcher below the RH front of the vehicle.
  44. Lower the vehicle until tires are touching the ground.
  45. Remove the center applique assembly. See Front Grille and Applique - Front Center Applique Assembly (Remove and Install).
  46. Remove the front fascia assembly. See Front Bumper Fascia - Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  47. Remove the cooling fan module. See Fan and Radiator - Cooling Fan Module (Remove and Install).
  48. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the Supermanifold to the vehicle, and then lower the Supermanifold until it is resting on the HVAC case.
    33 Nm (24.3 lbs-ft)

  49. Release the spring clips, and then disconnect the powertrain bypass hose, the radiator outlet hose, and the radiator inlet hose from the Supermanifold.

    Plug all the fittings.
  50. Disconnect the Supermanifold harness electrical connector.
  51. Disconnect the chiller to battery hose, the powertrain supply hose, and the chiller to battery hose from the Supermanifold, and then disconnect the electrical connectors (x2).

  52. Remove the bolt that attaches the remote fluid reservoir to the vehicle, lift the reservoir upward to release the datum, and then move the reservoir aside.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    Make sure the reservoir does not tip over.

  53. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the A/C compressor logic electrical connector.

    Do not push down on red tab. Pull to disengage lock, and then pull again to release the connector.
  54. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the A/C Compressor HV harness electrical connector from the A/C Compressor.

    Pull the red locking tab away from the black lever, and then slide the black lever upwards.
  55. Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C compressor ground strap to the A/C compressor, and then release the harness edge clip.

  56. Overlap from A/C Recovery.
  57. Remove the A/C hoses from the vehicle.
  58. With assistance, remove the bolts (x3) that attach the A/C compressor to the Megabeam, and then carefully remove the compressor towards the front of the vehicle and under the Megabeam.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  59. Remove the compressor from the vehicle.

  60. Remove the nut that attaches the Penta HVAC line assembly to the Supermanifold plate.
    36 Nm (26.5 lbs-ft)

  61. Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C line to the Supermanifold.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)

  62. Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C line bracket to the vehicle near the MV battery, and then remove the A/C line from the Supermanifold.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm socket
  63. With assistance, remove the Supermanifold from the vehicle.

    Rotate the Supermanifold counterclockwise under the megabeam for clearance.

    Support the assembly from underneath and at the reservoir during removal.
  64. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH frunk harness to the vehicle, and then disconnect the frunk harness electrical connectors (x2).
  65. Release the clips (x2) and hose connections (x2) that attach the windshield washer reservoir to the vehicle.
  66. Remove the fasteners (x3) that attach the windshield washer reservoir to the vehicle, and then remove the reservoir from the vehicle.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  67. Release the connector lock and disconnect the electrical connectors (x2), release the harness clips (x2), and then release the RH frunk harness from the Megabeam.
  68. Release the clips (x4) and remove the fastener that attach the LH frunk harness to the Megabeam.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E5
  69. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the MV battery, and then slide forward to remove the MV battery from the vehicle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm socket
  70. Remove the bolts (x8) that attach the Megabeam to the vehicle.

  71. Remove the Megabeam from the vehicle.

  72. Remove the bolts (x5) that attach the wet side HVAC assembly to the vehicle, and then maneuver the assembly around the coolant hoses to remove it from the vehicle.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • 10 mm socket
  73. Release the harness and cooling hose clip and grommets (x3) from the bulkhead, and then pull the harnesses and hoses through to the frunk area.
  74. Release the clips (x2) that attach the RH dash absorber to the vehicle, and then remove the dash absorber from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the RH dash absorber into the vehicle, and then secure the clips (x2) that attach the dash absorber to the vehicle.
  2. Feed the harnesses and coolant hoses through to cabin area, and then secure clip and grommets (x3) to the bulkhead.
  3. Position the wet side HVAC assembly into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x5) that attach the assembly to the vehicle.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

    Torque the 13 mm bolts (x2) to 15 Nm, and the 10 mm bolts (x3) to 7 Nm.

  4. Position the Megabeam into the vehicle.

  5. Position the MV battery into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the battery to the vehicle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

  6. Install the bolts (x8) that attach the Megabeam to the vehicle.

  7. Secure the clips (x4) and install the fastener that attach the LH frunk harness to the Megabeam.

  8. Connect the RH frunk harness connectors (x2) and secure the locking tab, and then secure the clips (x2) that attach the harness to the Megabeam.
  9. Position the windshield washer reservoir into the vehicle, and then install the fasteners (x3) that attach the reservoir to the vehicle.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  10. Secure the clips (x2) and hose connections (x2) that attach the windshield washer reservoir to the vehicle.
  11. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the RH frunk harness to the vehicle, and then connect the frunk harness electrical connectors (x2).
  12. Replace the seal washers (x5) to the Penta HVAC line on the A/C manifold side.

    Lubricate the seal washers with RB100EV POE oil.
  13. With assistance, position the Supermanifold to the vehicle.

  14. Secure the chiller to battery hose, the powertrain supply hose, and the chiller to battery hose to the Supermanifold, and then connect the electrical connectors (x2).

  15. Install the nut that attaches the pentaline to the Supermanifold.

  16. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the Supermanifold to the megabeam.

  17. Secure powertrain bypass hose, radiator outlet hose, and radiator inlet hose to Supermanifold, and then secure the spring clips.

  18. Connect the Supermanifold harness electrical connector.
  19. Replace the seal washers for Supermanifold to compressor AC line on Supermanifold side.

  20. Position the A/C line assembly into the vehicle, and then install the bolt that attaches the A/C line bracket to the vehicle.

  21. Install the bolt that attaches the A/C line to the Supermanifold.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)

  22. With assistance, position the AC compressor to the Megabeam, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach compressor to the Megabeam.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  23. Move the remote fluid reservoir into position, and then install the bolt that attaches reservoir to the vehicle.

    Align the datum, and then slide the reservoir downwards.

  24. Connect the A/C Compressor HV harness to the A/C Compressor, and then secure the connector lock.

    Slide the black lever down, and then push the red lock inwards.

    Make sure the red locking tab is pushed all the way in. The red locking tab should sit flush with the black lever.

  25. Install the bolt that attaches the A/C compressor ground strap to the compressor.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  26. Connect the A/C compressor logic electrical connector, and then engage the connector lock.
  27. Reconnect the A/C hoses to the vehicle.
  28. Perform the A/C Vacuum and Run Leak Test. See A/C Refrigerant (Recovery and Recharge).
  29. Install the cooling fan module. See Fan and Radiator - Cooling Fan Module (Remove and Install).
  30. Install the front fascia assembly. See Front Bumper Fascia - Front Fascia (Remove and Install).
  31. Install the center applique assembly. See Front Grille and Applique - Front Center Applique Assembly (Remove and Install).
  32. Install the front aero shield. See Undertray - Front Aeroshield (Remove and Install).
  33. Position the lower valence onto the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x6) that attach the valance to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

  34. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  35. Perform the cooling system vacuum refill procedure. See Cooling System (Vacuum Refill).
  36. Overlap time from A/C leak test.
  37. Perform the A/C recharge.

  38. Connect the car computer coolant hoses (x2) and secure the spring clips.

  39. Remove the absorbent mats under the car computer.

    Clean the area of residual coolant.
  40. Install the interior wet side HVAC fasteners (x6).
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  41. Pull the RH frunk harness through the bulkhead to secure it, install the harness clips (x3), and then connect the electrical connectors (x3) and engage the connector locks.
  42. Feed the Megavac harness through the bulkhead, pull the harness inward to seat the grommet, and then install the harness clip.
  43. Connect the Megavac electrical connector to the RH controller, and then secure the connector housing.
  44. Slowly tighten the bolt that secures the locking cover to the upper RH MV controller, making sure that the cover is square to the controller, and does not bind.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket

    If the cover binds, loosen the bolt until the locking cover is square again, then tighten the bolt while holding the cover square to the controller.

  45. Install the RH panel duct. See Passenger Ducting and Vents - Panel Duct, RH (Remove and Install).
  46. Install the glovebox assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Glovebox Assembly (Remove and Install).
  47. Install the instrument panel lower panel assembly. See Dash Panel - Instrument Panel Lower Assembly (Remove and Install).
  48. Install the instrument panel mid panel assembly. See Dash Panel - IP Mid Panel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  49. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power.
  50. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service mode > Thermal > Actions, and then tap Start Coolant Air Purge.
  51. Install the center floor upper bracket. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Upper Bracket (Remove and Install).
  52. Install the center floor trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Trim (Remove and Install).
  53. Unfold the RH front cabin carpet into position.
  54. Install the RH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
  55. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  56. Install the RH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  57. Unfold the LH front cabin carpet into position.
  58. Install the accelerator pedal. See Accelerator Pedal (Remove and Install).
  59. Install the accelerator pedal side trim. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Pedal - Side Trim (Remove and Install).
  60. Install the LH center floor rail. See Passenger Compartment Carpet - Center Floor Rail - LH (Remove and Install).
  61. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Lower Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  62. Install the LH mid A-pillar trim. See A-B-C Positivet Interior Trim - A-Pillar Mid Trim - LH (Remove and Install).
  63. Secure the LH side lower A-pillar primary seal.
  64. Install the footwell cover. See Dash Support Frame - Footwell Cover (Remove and Install).
  65. Restore the RH front seat back to its original position.
  66. Raise the RH front window and close the RH front door.
  67. Restore the LH front seat back to its original position.
  68. Inspect coolant the level and top off as necessary.

  69. Install the coolant bottle cap.
