Hydraulic Control Unit (Remove and Replace)

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Place the vehicle into Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  6. Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
  7. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Service Mode > Thermal > Refrigerant System.
  8. Touch Start Thermal Fill Drain (Coolant and Refrigerant) and allow the routine to complete.

  9. Disconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power (Modify).
  10. Remove all 4 wheels. See Wheels - Wheel (Remove and Install).

  17. Raise vehicle fully

    Set to a comfortable working height, Lower to locks, Ensure locks engage on both sides to prevent tilting
  18. Remove lower valence fasteners

  19. Remove the front aeroshield. See Aeroshield - Front (Remove and Install).
  20. Disconnect CFM connectors

  21. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  22. Remove center applique

    8x tabs, 1x connector, Release upper 4 tabs by pushing down then gently pull away, Release frunk release trigger connector
  23. Remove front fascia fasteners

  24. Remove front lower fascia assembly

    Place on suitable protective surface
  25. Release harness from CFM

    1x grommet, 2x connectors, 5x harness clips, Pull red locking tab to disengage louver connector, Release temperature sensor then disconnect, Release grommet and pull harness through from frunk area
  26. Place coolant catcher below RH front of vehicle
  27. Disconnect radiator outlet hose from radiator

  29. Remove upper CFM fasteners

  30. Raise vehicle partially and lower onto locks

    Set vehicle to comfortable working height, Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side
  31. Remove lower CFM fasteners

    2x bolts, 10mm, 10 Nm, 2 lower fasteners accessible through sides of CFM
  32. Remove fore crossmember

    2x bolts, 18mm, 90 Nm, PUSH up on CFM . Use hammer if needed, Recommend assistance
  33. Remove CFM

  34. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

    Raise lift off locks, then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered
  35. Disconnect the HCU electrical connector.

    Disengage the locking tab, and then pull up on the connector to release.
  36. Remove the flexible master cylinder brake lines (x2) from the HCU.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

  37. Remove the RH front brake line tube nut from the HCU.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

  42. Install HCU onto bracket

  43. Install the LH front brake line tube nut onto hydraulic control unit hand tight

  44. Torque LH front brake line tube nut

  45. Install the RH rear brake line tube nut onto hydraulic control unit hand tight

  52. Connect the HCU electrical connector.

    Engage the electrical connector, and then secure the locking tab.
  53. Install CFM

    Install from bottom, Assistance recommend Manipulate as required, Ensure harness is not pinched during install
  54. Raise vehicle fully

    Set to a comfortable working height, Lower to locks, Ensure locks engage on both sides to prevent tilting
  55. Install fore crossmember

    2x bolts, 18mm, 90 Nm, Lift CFM away from beam to aid in clearance, Install beam by sliding rewards
  56. Install lower CFM fasteners

  57. Lower vehicle until tires are touching the ground

  58. Install upper CFM fasteners

  59. Connect radiator outlet hose to radiator

  60. Connect radiator inlet hose to radiator

  61. Secure harness to CFM

  62. Remove coolant catcher from below vehicle
  63. Raise vehicle partially and lower lift onto locks

  64. Install front lower fascia assembly

  65. Install front fascia fasteners and covers

    2x covers, 4x bolts, 10mm, 4 Nm, Install tow hook covers
  66. Install center applique

  67. Install RH fascia fastener and connectors

  68. Secure RH wheel liner

  75. Perform cooling system vacuum fill. See Cooling System (Vacuum Refill).
  76. Reconnect MV power. See Disconnect MV Power (Modify).
  77. On the vehicle touchscreen, navigate to Thermal > Actions > Test Thermal Performance, touch Run, and allow the routine to complete.

    If the thermal test fails, follow Toolbox article 206000.
  78. Reinstall the vehicle software. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen (Restore).
  79. Bleed all 4 brakes manually. See Brake Fluid Bleed - One Caliper.
  80. Bleed all 4 brakes using Toolbox. See Brake Fluid Bleed - One Caliper.
  81. Select "Actions" tab and search for ‘"Stiffness"
  82. Select "TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-SERVICE", click "Run", and allow routine to complete

  83. Disconnect Toolbox 3 from vehicle and remove laptop
  84. Instal the frunk assembly. See Frunk Assembly (Remove and Install).
  85. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Install).
  86. Install all 4 wheels. See Wheels - Wheel (Remove and Install).
  87. Remove the vehicle from the lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  88. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
